So are we right? Is there a better triple on the market? If so what is it, comment below

nah, you're not right. Yes there is a better triple :P. It's the Street Triple and you know it. Smoother, faster, better sounding, and also better looking :)

I own a 2024 MT-09, I think it's pretty sweet. Things that I had to change: The seat is too hard for long rides; fixed it with the Yamaha aftermarket comfort seat. The sound of the bike isn't thrilling, I changed that with an aftermarket exhaust. Also the fancy indicator switch is annoying: it sometimes auto-cancels and sometimes doesn't meaning I occasionally end up accidently turning it back on again. If they had a separate button to cancel it it would save us from having to check the screen to see if it's on or off. Good points are: good power throughout the rev range without noticeable heat. The riding position is a bit forward but not so much that there is weight on your wrists.

Glad it’s not just us with that indicator switch

I feel some people confuse beauty with performance or just don’t have a MT09. I personally think the 3rd generation is best looking. Having ridden a couple Triumph, KTM, plus a couple other competitors, in my opinion you’re not going to beat the MT09!!

My understanding of the backslip regulator is that it stops engine breaking locking up the back wheel. I am not sure if it only works in conjunction with the quick shifter or works with the clutch as well.

It would be great if all manufacturers of naked bikes put a decent two up seat on them like was the norm from the 60's to the 90's. The UJM motorcycles were great all rounders until the tail in the air insect look started which places the pillion in a ridiculous position

Better road engine than street triple and although people criticise the looks the front end of street triple is no looker either, everyone has just got used to it after the same look for soo long and stopped talking about it. In the early days it also had it's critics on the looks front.

If i end up buying this bike, the very first thing I will do is change out that hideous Master Break Cylinder resavoir for the MT-10 version. Most mechanicals the same. I cant see a problem with a swap.

The bike has all the great running gear, but OMG!, it is let down by its looks. The front end looks too small compared to the rest of the bike. It reminds me of when people would cheaply repair a crashed sports bike and call it a street fighter. But at least Yamaha has its bases covered with other models using this fantastic motor.

They finally caught up to Harley and put self cancelling indicators on the bike. :D The seat is definitely looking aggressive and out of context with the bike. The bike overall has unusual proportions, looking like a transformer but one of the ugly ones that isn't popular and gets left on the selves in the shops. It's 100% not a bike I'd look back at as I walk away and be proud to own.

@BikerTorque26 күн бұрын
Still think the MT09 would be great on track
@paulhope340125 күн бұрын
@BikerTorque It is very good on track... what I mean is it could just be better there if it had a more peaky power delivery, the top end surge you get with a more race orientated engine just prior to changing gear is what brings the lap times right down. The CP3 power curve is fairly flat at the top of of the rpm range... even when tuned, only a slightly hotter cam and maybe also shorter stroke but wider bore to allow higher peak rpm could change that... in which case it would lose some torque at the lower end of the rev range, which would make it not as optimal on the street.

Agree that it certainly isn’t the prettiest triple on the market, but that engine, for me is a tad better than the Triumph Street Triple, but seriously only just. Both incredible bikes.
@ferrisnox26 күн бұрын
Have to disagree. The Triumph triples are too busy and have an annoying vibration through bars and pegs. Yamaha doesn't have that, plus it has way more torque down low. The CP3 is maybe the perfect street engine.
@douglasalexander434826 күн бұрын
My Triumph ST doesn’t have that vibration, my Yamaha tracer has ? Yams got more immediate grunt, but the Triumphs more composed and fluid at any speed. Yam for the mad days, Triumph for every day slow or fast. Lucky us to have such a great choice, brilliant or brilliant.

I tried out a last gen MT-09 and thought it was pretty fantastic. Then I tried a Street Triple 765R and was completely blown away by it. So I ended up buying an RS. I just find so much about the Street Triples to be better that the couple things the Yamaha do better (more torque and coming equipped with cruise control) aren't enough to make up for it.
