Yamaha SHO 2012' How To Remove Restricter

Here is shown How To Remove the Restricter on your 1800 cc super charged Ski . This is Applicable on Yamaha SHO FZR and FZS Skis

Great idea to remove restrictor However revving and letting off throttle repeatedly on a supercharged ski is not good at all on supercharger clutch/ drive assembly. Especially on 2012 and earlier models as the supercharger clutch and drive gear is the weak link on this engine, If you want your S.C. ski to last don't keep throttle on when you jump or don't release throttle quickly from wide open. (within reason of course! proper use of throttle input on S.C. ski can greatly increase its life span) Have a great day!! Ps. It does pay in long run to use correct torque and a touch of blue Loctite on bolts!!! Not because they will vibrate loose ,but because the bolts are stainless going in aluminum block. Anytime you bolt two did-similar metals together and add electrolysis ( different metals, water, and voltage (battery ground to block) you'll have corrosion,) So use torque wrench and a bit of blue Loctite , you won't regret it. ( on smaller bolts you'll over torque unless you do it on daily basis so why chance it ? torque specs are given for a reason!!

Great video! Is there any difference in using a sleeve where the ribbon used to be? Or is it perfectly ok to just remove the ribbon and not replace the gap with a sleeve?

Chevaposaurus it is perfectly ok to just remove the sleeve as well as the rubber seal .

Nice and tight will do just fine ,have done many of them with no problems at all .

hello Redrockat. I have an 09 fzr, Do i have that restrictor as well? And do I have to remove the manifold, or can I just remove the throttle body like u show on the vx model? thanks

Yes you have the same in the 09 FZR and you have to remove the intake manifold too .

Yes your restricter sits right behind the throttle body same as yamaha vx restricter removal .

Yes the ski can "breath " better taking in more air gaining throttle control and more power put down on the water . The final speed increases just a little due to the rpm gain with the more available air added but the zero to top speed time increases a lot making the ski better All round .

Redrokat can I put a turbo on my 20w5 ar190 which has the 1.8 natural aspirated. and what kind of ECU changes or other mods would need to be performed to accept this upgrade?

hi there ,yes you can turbo the motor but you will need to build a forged motor .....rods and pistons . The ecu can be flash tuned or vipec ecu installed .

Also injectors need to be changed ,and jet pump setup with new impeller to handle the power . You will need a charge cooler and Riva Motorsport Turbo Manifold .

The Riva Manifold is for the exhaust :) This will be one insane and most enjoyable ski :) also remember you will need a exhaust system to accompany the turbo .

They are metal gaskets and may be used again .

Yes you will be able to do this with the naturally aspirated 1.8 yamaha motor also . The restricter sits near the throttle body :) I made a video ,yamaha vxr restricter removal that you can see how to do it :)

Yes the 190 is the naturally aspirated. Does removing the restrictor require any ECM remapping or does it adjust automatically

+Vito Aiello The Ecu has a map sensor that will read the pressure and flow difference and automatically adjust itself :)
