FYI video states tom sizes as 10, 12 and 14 with a 22 kick drum. The 2 standard options are 10, 12 and 14 with a 20 kick, or 10, 12 and 16 with a 22 kick. just saying.

Nice review mate; from a fellow Londoner and one who has just purchased the SCs! They are awesome and much more than entry level

I would say that the snare is the weakest link, but it's not that bad either, it can be tuned. all in all a very good drum for the money

How does the Yamaha Stage Custom compare with a Tama Superstar and a Pearl Export ?
@timcline27995 жыл бұрын
Another excellent review. Terrific help. Pearl since 1985. Lengthy comparative concludes with me switching to either Yamaha or Mapex.

Remo Ambassadors for the toms would make them sound even better.

It's not a quite common head for toms but when I put it on my Yamaha it was another world! Haven't tried Clear emperors yet but i have tried coated emperors clear g2 and pinstripes and ambassadors take the cake for sure!

I use smooth white emperors on mine Absolute game changer! 👍

I have 2 stage custom kits. Recently put ambassador clears on top and diplomat clear bottom. Really helps open up the drums even more. I have the older stage customs from the 90s

can you help.. i purchased 8" tom to mount on cymbal stand. does this only work with yess mount?

what kit would you go for yamaha stage custom or pearl decade maple ??
@alexma3217 жыл бұрын
Both are very good. In my opinion Decade is more for rock or metal because have more "balls" but still have a tone. Stage custom is versatile, good for all kind of music. For me SC looks better but I prefer a Decade over the SC because I don't like Yamaha's tom mount system attached on the wooden shell directly who always choke a second tom (12") and make it more "dead" than first tom (10"). Pearl have a nice three-way optiloc suspension system which is better. Sorry for my bad English, I am from Serbia :)
@pinheadlarry10196 жыл бұрын
It depends, which do you like better: a maple kit (Pearl), or, a birch kit (Yamaha)?
@jords57216 жыл бұрын
I would go for a stage custom.

Hey! Have you checked the bearing Edge of the resonant side of the snare? I got the exact kit 5 months ago and just realized that it is completely flat on 2 sides of the bearing Edge, it doesn't have the angle all the way around, which cause the head to sit properly. 😕 Is it normal?

The choking out of the 12 inch tom keeps me from pulling the trigger on this kit. May go with a Gretsch Catalina.
@kenserio7 жыл бұрын
NO NO NO the Yamaha kicks the the Catalinas ASS all around Ive played everything over 40 years as a pro and always come back to Yamaha as the best sounding drums for the money . Best sounding maybe SONOR but for German ones at 3000 ./ Yamaha kicks ass !
@michaelmiraglia83067 жыл бұрын
cant agree more. I've gotten bored very fast with the gretch catalinas very fast. just got this set and its amazing with its tonality!
@mrtc296 жыл бұрын
Vladimir Lopez as long as the toms are tuned well & mounted properly you’ll have no problems
@Drumsticksmcgee4 жыл бұрын
@@kenserio I agree, the stage C are amazing. I have the stage custom and the Catalina Club 4 Piece jazz. I do love the sound of the stage custom very much. They just need the proper tuning.

for one you was more ipressed about the sound, this one, the yamaha stage custom or the pearl decade maple...., say me something, i dont know what to buy......, thanks.

Jaime sorlí Depends if you prefer maple sound or birch. Only your ears can tell you. Both are fine kits, personally I like my mapex proM. Steel Yamaha custom snare is great sounding.

Leaning ones mass on the drums gives the impression that you do not value the piece.
