Great job on the review, and nice one having the guests! It’s such a drag that we won’t see this in North America for another 15 months or so. The KTM is certainly a better performing bike for the extreme stuff, but the Yamaha will certainly prove more reliable and cheaper to maintain for many years. That fact, combined with the price, make this an incredible value. Can’t wait to see one on this side of the Atlantic!
@Nexus-65 жыл бұрын
True that on the reliability factor. Last I checked, Yamaha as a brand, are rated as the most reliable motorcycles on the planet, followed closely by the other three Japanese brands. Also, Yamaha have the longest valve check intervals of any bike at 42,000 kms (26,000 miles).
@fredthebarber5 жыл бұрын
holymolie Right? I’ve seen the amazing footage in every review of the KTM 790 ADV R of Chris Birch riding down the face of a rock ledge, and I’m sure the KTM’s superior suspension and electronics help make that possible. But holy hell, I’m not gonna do that! Even with all of those things, that’s just a recipe for me to eat all of my teeth for breakfast. For real world humans, and especially off-road beginners, I think the biggest advantage the KTM has over the Yamaha is the low slung gas tank. The lowered centre of gravity and the stability that that provides during slow speed maneuvers (like, every maneuver I’d be doing off-road) would be a boon to confidence. I hope Yamaha and other OEMs figure this out and adopt something similar. It only looks goofy on the KTM because we’re not used to seeing it.
@Nexus-65 жыл бұрын
@@fredthebarber Yeah, KTM made a legendary bike. But, us mere mortals mostly won't be able to push the bike to the extreme. If you have the money for a KTM, great. And if not, the Yamaha will do nicely, thank you very much. 😎👌

Considering what your getting for the 3 to 4 thousand dollars more for the 790R it's actually a bargain. If your gonna ride off road you need a fully adjustable suspension, the big gas tank, excellent brakes, and really good electronics make it such an appealing package. I like the looks of the t7 but I'm going for the 790R!

This is the BEST Tenere 700 real riding review yet released on media. You are going to get a great deal of downloads of this one. Simple honest review and real riding from the standpoint of real riders (as opposed to professional racers). Beautiful scenery, beautiful bike, wonderful watch. Looking forward to the release of this in the United States. By then I will have decided if I can afford this, and will really use it for it's purpose, over my FZ-07 (Mt-07). I live in Southern California. There is a lot of high desert and low desert to explore here if you have a vehicle capable of negotiating it. I think this one is up for the task. I did notice on some shots on another video that the package hard bags offered stick WAY out to the side, and I hope there is some smaller storage offerings aftermarket that are intelligent enough to be more slim. There is no purpose to having inches between pannier and frame.

In recent years I owned an Africa Twin that I absolutely loved but after we were rear ended by a semi truck ending our time together I purchased an FZ-07 which quickly became my all time most favorite bike bringing me more giggle factor than I could ever imagine possible on two wheels serving as both a stunt bike fully caged with hand brake for endless wheelies and a with proper suspension brakes and tires made a sweet track day toy capable of embarrassing bikes with darn near 3 times the power that cost 3 times what my 07 did, everything about that bike screamed fun and I've had over 30 bikes in my nearly 30 years of riding and I can easily picture the T7 being the combination of the best of each Africa Twin and FZ/MT-07 features. I will own one asap that is a fact. Thank you Yamaha for building fantastic yet affordable bikes that riders of any skill level can enjoy.

Well i bought one in march 21 and have done 600 miles so far. Its good but there are a few niggles that non of the testers have talked about. Reving above 5000rpm causes lots of vibration, your fingers will go to sleep. So much for a nice sounding engine with its 270 degree offset thingy. There is a whine from the gearbox? at higher revs. Not a mechanical issue but not nice. Above 60mph you are going to get beaten by the wind and noise. A ralyraid set of screens help but only by about 5mph. At 1 or 2 mph its just waiting to fall over, anything above that speed its fantastically nimble. If you missjudge your foot down, you are coming off. As a road tourer with 10% offroad use its going to need lots of mods, expensive ones! The marketing has been very clever. Hook you in with a great value cheap bike with no frills but then you spend another 15 to 20% on necessary extras. Make sure your budget can cope with that and it all works well in the end. Stay off the motorways, don't stop, buy the practical mods and not the fancy lights etc and buy touch up paint for the crash bars..! The Fat Old Guy has spoken. lol

I really want it but I’m waiting to see if Kawi is going to bring out the versys 400. To me the 400 engine is just perfect. You can run through the gears and really enjoy it without getting in to trouble. It’s fast and can easily go on the freeway and take cars of the line. It will have a light clutch and the weight will be somewhere around the 170kg mark. I’ll assume it will have a 17L tank like the ninja 400. 400km per fill up. Price will be cheaper. The only thing that might turn me off the versys 400 could be design when compared to KTM and Yamaha.

Those looked pretty decent to me - lots of fun but nothing super sketchy, we've had heavyweight adv's on that sort of stuff before. Now granted that's about as gnarly as I'd want to take a bike like my Multi on but it seemed like stuff the T7 would eat for lunch. I was really thinking about the Tenere as something that would be able to handle substantially more rugged riding... full offroad not just dirt roads.
