It's definately a great improvement over the standard T7, but essentially it cost as much as a KTM 890 R, Africa Twin 1100 or a Desert X. I don't think we will see many of them on the road.

Mine is really Great. Bought 4 months ago in NW Italy keeps the promises of the design. Range is more than 450 kms on blue roads. Light and well driveable in and off road in spite of its shape. The châssis and the forks call for additional 10 hp over the 74 it has. This is my only point.
@jasondunn8894 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you on the price point. I have a Tenere 660 and would love to own a T7 but like one of the other viewers mentioned, its now up there with KTM and Ducati. I do love the idea of the World Raid with the big 23 liter tank like my 660. So nice to fuel up and go and be less concerned about range.

I live in USA. World raid is out of question now and maybe two years from now. USA models are slated to be produced in Japan. That production line isn't running now. However I have a 2022 model T700. I got it early. It has taken most of a year to get all the suspension and other components together to bring it up to what I consider a competent RTW motorcycle. That is my opinion and many others differ. That's ok with me. A lot of time effort money and research went into my purchases. It is mine with the components tailored for me. That's what I want. To do that it has cost me as much as the motorcycle did or more and I do all my own work. You get a great base machine but kind of a generic weak suspension nut for average use it would be ok. For a good price, about 12,000USD. I added factory luggage, centerstand, radiator guard, rear rack on mine. These items should have been on the bike to start with except luggage. The Raid is slated to cost about 18,000 USD when it comes available. we've only gotten 4 batches of T700 sent here in what 4 years.. Sad. Sure there will be plenty of Honda Transalps when they come available, fully equipped from the factory. I would take a Raid, maybe sell or trade mine but I doubt it. Mine is mine. It is a competitive market with newer machines available for the same money which are as capable out of the box if not more so.

I would have to agree that Yamaha have pretty much priced this and the other T7 out from the everyday person. I have a CRF 300 Rally and a Mazda CX30 and a home loan and a gf and a 19 teenager so it’s good to dream. My next plan mostly revolves around retirement in 8 years a 2nd VW Krafter fit out and two CRF I. The back.

A basic “peoples champion” T7, I’m in. 😎 For now I continue to love my 300 Rally which is much better priced and just as capable be it a bit less aggressive 👍
@SomeRandoInternetPoster Жыл бұрын
Pricing of the world raid I can sort of understand, it has better parts so more premium and in the same ballpark as KTM 890/Desert X. You’d go ktm/Ducati for performance or Yamaha reliability. The stock T7 price creep has to be due to its market demographic, middle aged/aging buyers so have cash to buy an adv bike to drop off-road and latest klim suit. Compare the stock T7 to a MT09 SP which is 18k ride away, the MT09 sp is a lot more bike than a T7 even though different categories. MT09 sp has Ohlins shock, adjustable KYB front suspension, cruise control, 6 axis imu, amazing engine, probably the best value bike in that segment. The mt09 market likely a lot younger than most greying adv riders so have less money to spare which has kept the price competitive.

You had me excited about the dual gas tanks, after conversion it appears to be a 6 gallon tank, which is a big reason why I like KLR over the T7, .. and then I found out that the "**World** Raid" model isn't being sold **World**wide. I just want a dual sport/adv bike that is 6-700cc and has a 6+ gallon guel tank stock.

Absolutely a masterpiece of equipment...well done 👍 Yamaha! In my opinion, $15k USD are quiet for this model, I have to check if we are gonna pay this price in PR. If it's more than that, too pricey. For a new updated bike new year, should be accessible for every motorcycle enthusiast. I know inflation and everything, raw materials but it doesn't have to be expensive. It will make us move to other direction. Honda is getting an outstanding response from the public with the new Transalp 750, and quite a good price. But there are different pockets so we have to settle for the best vike, and that doesn't means always the bigger price. Godspeed.

Upgrading gas tanks is a nightmare with most bikes, the wider range and also better weather protection of the big tank is a big deal though it's a high cost for it. If you aren't a very solid bike mechanic, the dollars are well spent for what comes on this, including the suspension improvements. The costs add up fast with aftermarket.
@joakimf4868 Жыл бұрын
Euro Spec bikes (standard and WR) have all had the catalytic converter in that position for a couple of years already, so there are a lot of bashplates available, not all of them fit with the wr fuel tanks though, so be aware of that.
@MrEtnorb Жыл бұрын
At this moment there are 39 2nd hand T7’s for sale,starting from approx $15,000. Many with lots of accessories. No need to complain about high priced new bikes, just buy 2nd hand. The World Raid model has naturally succumbed to the usual disease, namely increased weight and a higher seat. Just what you don’t want for a desert crossing.
@hazcat640 Жыл бұрын
Solid, I still like the standard better. An Acerbis tank and a good bash plate and you're ready. My son only weighs 130 lbs (59k) so the suspension is not a problem for him. Also that twin tank takes another fuel pump (I believe) so another potential problem. Last, the price. My son got his new in 2021 so at the original price. Yes, I understand costs and inflation but unless you are a hardcore T7 fan they have priced themselves just about out of the market IMO. People that want no electronic frills also expect no frill pricing. Good report as always.

I’ve been on my new World Raid in Australia for two weeks and I’ve done 1200km. Compared to my original T7 its a heaps better bike. The weight balance is much better than the standard bike, the lower tank actually makes the bike feel smaller than the original. Suspension is alot better too. Yes it’s more expensive but you missed many of the upgrades Yamaha made to this bike compared to standard bike and to me it’s 100% worth it.
@PeterR0035 Жыл бұрын
They are NOT 'upgrades', they are how the bike should have been in the first place! It's just a marketing ploy to get more money 💰 If you put anything else but 1 naked rider on the first original bike, the suspension would bottom out. That is NOT normal!

Two corrections: 1, The origianl T7 cost over $17K new, ride away, in 2020, in fact I paid $17,300 in September that year, it was never under $16K, unless they had some pre release special discount in Australia like they did in parts of Europe, though I don't remember that happening. The low 17K price was the norm until the world went a bit funny. And 2, Although this version has better suspension the original T7 does also have fully adjustable suspension, F&R, always did. Now, with nearly 30K on my bike, would I upgrade it for the World Raid? No way, the standard bike is a gem and i'm keeping mine though at some stage I will have to put $$ into a suspension upgrade. If I were buying one new today,. which one would I get? Tough call.
