Thank you! I'm looking at purchasing a 2019 TTR230 and uncorking it for my 15 year old son!

I just put a 15/48 setup on my 08 ttr and it’s wicked fast now…and the cover does go back on you just have to shave down the aluminum guard with a dremil tool a little bit but it does fit

Do you need a longer chain if you do this?
@abnx96709 жыл бұрын
Yeah I just ordered the 14t counter sprocket per your other video. The stock TTR230 gearing is almost laughable…..I am so looking forward to the new gearing. Did you ever record anything in rider POV with the new 14t and have you tried out a smaller rear sprocket? Thanks for the videos!
@brihead3019 жыл бұрын
Nah not yet. I do have a GoPro camera now, but it's like zero degrees outside right now! Once it gets warmer, I'm gonna make a rider POV video with the 14/49 combo. After that, I'm going to put my nice lightweight aluminum 46 in the rear and make a video for comparison. But that will all come once it gets a little warmer outside ;)

so to summarize the video if I lower my gear ratio my Banshee will go faster or slower top end?
@brihead3018 жыл бұрын
Lowering the gear ratio (which is achieved by increasing the front and/or decreasing the rear) will increase your top end speed.
@mikedagostino63185 жыл бұрын
But on a trail bike wouldn't lower end be more beneficial?
@mikedagostino63185 жыл бұрын
Are you sacrificing any top-end or low end with any of these ratios, or does it up any?
@jasondaniels66148 жыл бұрын
Just curious to see exactly what you changed your sprockets to? And what your top speed is.
@brihead3018 жыл бұрын
After trying 13/49 (stock), 14/49, and 14/46...I have found 14/49 to be the sweet spot. I think top speed is about 60 mph...no speedometer, so it's just an estimate.

Brian Kelly try looking at your GPS for accurate speed. thanks for the tip on gearing.
@ThomasMeeks8 жыл бұрын
If you did a 13 46, your ratio would be 3.54 (rounded), very close to the ratio of the 14 49. With that said, is there a reason/benefit to choose changing the small sprocket over the rear sprocket?
@brihead3018 жыл бұрын
Tom Meeks changing the C/S sprocket is easier then taking off the rear wheel and the 6 bolts that hold it onto the rim. You also may need to shorten the chain by changing the rear. But aside from those things, no both methods would accomplish the same thing.

The ttr230 isn’t made for speed, I personally fuck with the stock gearing for the trails that I ride
@lucaspullen32088 жыл бұрын
if i go 14 49 will it make it so i can do wheelies better or spin my tires in the dirt easier?
@brihead3018 жыл бұрын
You will notice that you get more speed out of each gear (namely 1st and 2nd will be most noticeable), but this bike simply isn't powerful enough to do power wheelies. You can only do clutch ups with it, and clutch ups are possible no matter how you have this bike geared.
@desertBirdDogs7 жыл бұрын
That's not true, the bike can power wheelie stock. It's a matter of technique.
@lucaspullen32088 жыл бұрын
do i have too rejet the bike if i get like a fmf pipe for it?
@brihead3018 жыл бұрын
Yes. You should rejet the bike anyway, because it comes from the factory way too lean.
@metalkokorea7 жыл бұрын
the higher the gear ratio, the higher the speed and the lower the torque. vice versa

also do you have to change anything else if u change the gearing. or can u just change the gearing and run it and it wont harm the bike in any way
@brihead3018 жыл бұрын
Nope, regearing will not harm the bike in any way whatsoever.
