My 6:50 has an inner o-ring seal also. Not sure exactly what's going on there mechanically or how to change it. I'm just going to change the orange outer o-ring seal behind the plastic switch. Looks like there's an inner black o-ring behind that.? Idk.

Thanks for the great video. Just changed my neutral switch and the oring. It turned out that the cap didn't crack and it's the oring being worn out and caused leak. No leak observed so far!

Hi, wondering if i can get some help. At 2:40 what was the name of this part? engine case something? I've already replaced the neutral safety switch (which was cracked) thanks to this video, but i'm still experiencing leaking and pooling of oil at this location.

It's right by the kickstand behind the decorative chrome covers. 4 bolts you gotta take off to get to it

question. do you know anything about the oil gauge assembly on the right side bottom under that removable cap? Mine seems saturated and after a ride it seems when I park it, a little comes out but not much. so its not a steady leak. I can post pics of you need me to

This is the VERY BEST video of this problem. Thanks for the upload and I am about to fix mine. Even at the factory they screw these things up too tight. Motorcycle Cruiser video maker do you know about the splines at the differential. They come lubed from the factory and people seem to think that this will last forever, BUT it does NOT. Mine had gone dry at 25,000 miles and a lot of damage would have been done by 30,000 miles. These splines need grease and it is an easy 20 minute job to do when you are changing to a new rear tyre. I have put a link up showing how to grease these splines. The V Star 650 AND the 1100 both have these splines that need greasing. All purpose grease is fine if you do the greasing every time that you change a rear tyre. This is a real trap and I am telling as many 650 and 1100 riders that I can. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXvVipqJnNqCd7s Catch you down the road, Aussie Bob.

I'm about to change my rear tyre. Thanks for sharing this advice.
@7316bobe5 жыл бұрын
@@thunzie Hi and yes this is the most important job on these cruisers and it is the easiest job to do on the motorcycle. There is nothing to replace except the grease on these splines. I am trying to warn every body that I can to grease these splines before they go dry and then chop out costing over 1000 dollars in repairs. Happy to be of help to you.

How much does one pay for someone to do this? I just do not have a work shop.. But if I can get a good normal price range on the work that has to be done, that would be great. 👍
@jonathanvillalba32143 жыл бұрын
I can see a shop charging this as a 1-2 hr job at a minimum (in NY is anywhere from $90-150/hr for the labor) and $50 in parts. So you are looking at $140-350 in NYS.
