Hi, Sorry, just spotted your comment. If the engine is knocking then most likely the big end bearing has failed. Remove cylinder head and barrel & check bearing (where the Conroe connects to the crank shaft. Any vertical play between the two components is a fail - fix it to fit a con-rod kit or a new crank shaft. Let me know what you find. Good Luck Oh....and you need to work out the fault that allowed the engine to get low on oil in the first place. Make sure you fit a new set of piston rings too :-) Andy

Andy Mechanic there is just a barley movement in the connecting rod but I’m told that that ain’t no good I have to rebuild bottom end. Yes Andy I was planning on a new set of rings also. Still ain’t found out where the oil went to begin with

Check the exhaust port for excessive carbon build up. If needed external oil leaks then the oil must have been burnt in the combustion chamber (leaking past rings or intake valve stem seals). If exhaust valve stem seals leaking then wet oil in exhaust. Success hone and new rings. Check valve stem to guide clearance (may need new valve guides if out of spec). Fit new valve stem seals. Let me know how you get on. Cheers Andy

a bad water pump can make water in to the cylinder?
@AndyMechanic3 жыл бұрын
No. If you are getting coolant into a cylinder then it's either a blown head gasket, cracked head or cracked cylinder. Cheers Andy

I really enjoy your videos, keep the good work up! However, in this video you have a weird cut, about 29m30s in. Just when you are about to show a closeup of the head gasket you cut to a scene when you start to undo the head bolts.

Wow, Yamaha copyrighted their torque specs to make it that much harder for their customers to successfully work on their own stuff. Thanks Yamaha for being anti right-to-repair.

If there a dark discoloring on the crank what does that mean? I’m guessing that it got hot on the bottom end but everything seems tight
