Hey, no worries, I'm please you found the video helpful. I agree, the Vikings have a major weak point with the radiator/cooling fan & if the operator isn't aware then its very easy to cause the engine to overheat. Cheers :-)

Hi Andy I rebuilt my 2014 Yamaha Viking cylinder head about 1 1/5 years ago by following your awesome video. I had a problem tightening and torquing the the rear hex bolt that goes in from the bottom. Can you tell me how to torque this hex bolt. Thank Pat

I did this job again only a few weeks ago. With the throttle body removed (as it should be) & the black CVT induction pipe I can get a 3/8 drive torque wrench with a shallow single hex socket in, just. Otherwise you'd have to use a crows foot adapter for your torque wrench. Hope this helps. All the best. Andy

My timing keeps jumping. The tension spring plunger is all the way out and it's nowhere near the plastic piece that runs up. Will these chains stretch.

How can I tell if I blew my head gasket? I don’t have coolant or oil coming out but I ran it hot till check engine light came on... never lost power seems fine, just gets hot

Check to see if coolant system is over pressurised & radiator cap is releasing coolant into the reservoir. This is caused by combustion gasses leaking from combustion chamber into coolant system. Under this you won't get oil/water mix. Cheers Andy

Andy Mechanic so when she gets hot I noticed the coolant is beyond maxed on the reservoir... so does that mean I need to bleed the system or water pump? I have a 2015 I just picked up... rode it most the day fine... it got hot so I turned her off.... fan kept running, after the light went away I rode for another 5min or so and it came back on... I kept going in mud holes to cool it off... eventually the check engine light came on but never lost power... any idea??

So my head gasket blew... how much would it cost for someone to fix this for me? Assuming it’s just a head gasket?

Hey Andy how can I tell if my cam chain came off? Should I be able to rotate the chain by hand? If it is off what do I do to put it back on?

That's very serious if it's happened. On the side of the cylinder head is a round cover approx 4 inches in diameter & held in place by 2 M6 bolts with an 8mm hex head. Remove this & you'll see the cam shaft sprocket. Check if chain is still In place & tight on the sprocket. You can email me pics if you like to [e-mail] Fingers crossed! Cheers Andy

@@AndyMechanic sorry I should have given u more information, I'm changing the head gasket and the timing chain has come off down in the bottom end, is there anyway to put it back on without taking anything else apart? Love your videos you're a life saver!

Hi Lee, yes, definitely. Just fish the chain out with a magnet or pick, use a torch and hold the chain so it's tight then just move it around until it drops back on the sprocket. You can also remove the rearward cam chain slipper to give you more access/view. Once the chain is back on refit the black chain guide. It'll be fiddly but shouldn't take too long to do. Cheers Andy

@@AndyMechanic got it! Thank you, I got it all back together set valve lash and everything now when I start it it turns over but won't fire. One odd thing it's doing is while it's turning over if I give it gas it just stops almost like it's hydro locked but once I let off the gas it will turn over again. I think I'm going g crazy w this thing.

what would happen if you torgue the screws a bit more? because i had this problem 3 times already.

+ROFA02 you can damage the threads, stretch the bolts, crush a gasket or even deform a casting by overtightening a bolt.

i drive everyday 40miles in 32 degrees celcius (Aruba very hot weather) and have blown the gasket 3 times already in the past 7 months . till now i have tighten them as the service manual instructed. yes, radiator fan works good thanks for your quick reply. i'm thinking to install a oil cooler just like the rhino, because i had a rhino for 3 years and never had blown a head gasket. please let me know your opinion on the oil cooler.

ROFA02 you can get a bigger or additional radiator. You can also put a fan override switch in so so can force the fan on. You can upgrade coolant to a more conductive coolant
