great video comparison. i didn't have that issue at all, it was actually one of the best mods i did after sprocket change but your results were very different. interesting!

Thanks! It makes me wonder if the carbs are different... most likely not but it is odd we got different results.

Great, keep going with the Virago videos, in south america this bike is a lot popular, but we have not a lot material to work with

I also went back to the original carb set after finding it used to much fuel . The accelerator had a bit more response but not enough to justify the fuel consumption ( 50 miles less per tank). Even went back to original jet size . Runs a little lean due to after factory exhaust but a whole lot better than running rich. The nylon screw in the diaphragm has a little pin that needs to line up . Maybe that is why the revving is fluctuating at idle.

Yea, it works for some people but not other. It's rather odd.

i believe the spring you're suppost to cut is in the slide under the little white screw.

Hi DJ, Did you fit carb return spring? I think you should refit the push pull throttle cable you removed, only my opinion. Love all your videos. Always very informative, honest. Keep on doing what you do. I am sure you're dear old dad is watching over you smiling proudly at you. You done a great job on the virago xv250 v star . simply awesome god bless you buddy.

Wow, thank you soo much, yes, I fitted a spring to it after some time. It helped a lot!

I had to same issue ended up just rejetting and replacing my slide and spring i also kept my return cable but it would randomly try to rev up had 3 of my buddies even look at it had us all puzzled Sigma was little to no help with why it was doing this. MPG with 1 size up on jets stock exhaust drilled i got 84.2mpg MPG with slide spring,hole and jets 43.6-44.9mpg avg MPG after Exhaust,air cleaner running just jets i am getting 74-78mpg on avg I do ride below 1500 so please guys do your research on the elevation you will be riding in also i can't recommend Sigma Jets if you are tuning a Virago xv250 all you need is 3 new sparkplugs 4 jets and 2 shims You wanna get a #115,#120,#125 and a #20 low side jet I tuned off the rear cyl as it sees the least amount of cooling I found for me with a full 1" to 2 1/2" exhaust runs all the way out to the end of the rear tire used the same air filter as used on Rapid Squirrels bike and for me Jetting i found #115 and a #20 worked for me and i just adjusted my needle up 1 notch got it right on the 2nd sparkplug reading. But if you tune the way i did and you are 1500 and below start with a fresh plug on the rear cyl drop in a #20 #115 ride it for 10-15mins check the plug and adjust from there.

Off carb topic... I was thinking of installing some sort of bike rack to my Xv for a mountain bike... would it cause any problems like balance when turning Ps your videos are most educational. Thanks as I am a new rider and just got my xv 250..
@rabidsquirrelgarage7454 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how you would do that, it would take some playing around but no, it shouldn't have balancing issues.
@fanofoldfans92384 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comparison of original vs modified slide and cut spring. I think I'll keep mine stock now. Where can I get just the #115 main jet and #20 pilot jet without buying the whole kit? What's your elevation? Carburetors are picky that way.
@rabidsquirrelgarage7454 жыл бұрын
The jets are available at any local moto shop. My elevation, uh, Ohio. LOL
@fanofoldfans92384 жыл бұрын
@@rabidsquirrelgarage745 LOL that's funny Ohio elevation! Safe to say about the same as Bakersfield Ca. 250'. So have you disconnected and plugged the air injection system? If so did it make any difference?
