Love your content Jeff but Gen1 air scoops were rock solid aluminium. Or aluminum as you say over in the US lol. They cover the cooling water tank on one side and some electric parts on the other side. They were clearly design feature and they were the first on a motorbike. Since then, many bikes copied them in one way or another, it is not a shame. These scoobs are the central design element of the max. Without them, the vmax would have been just another bike...

Had a gen 1 vmax, air scoops were definately not plastic. Mine also had mesh in the air scoops. They stored some coolant lines, caps, wires and fuse, did move some air, but only as an after thought.

The tire presser that is on the tire's sidewall, is the tire's max air presser and doesn't pertain to the vehicle it's mounted to. So, the owner's manual tire air pressers would be the correct air pressers for your bike's tires.

The tire pressure numbers on the tires are the MAXIMUM pressure allowed for the tire. This is not necessarily the recommended tire pressure for the bike. The same thing is true for car tires. I go by the numbers on the drive shaft housing.

Love your Vmax I have been a fan of the Vmax since the beginning. I heard an early one with the adjustable supertrapp mufflers on it and have been hooked ever since.

The lean angle sensor must be new. It doesn't come on the 2016. I know because I have one. I dropped it (gently) after coming to a complete stop to miss a Deer in my neighborhood. The bike stayed running the whole time. And just a little gem. I scraped up the exhaust tips a bit. And found they won't rotate from top to bottom but they will swap from side to side. Which puts the damaged section to the inside.

The lean angle system has been there since 2009. Check page 6-1 of your manual. It appears yours may be malfunctioning. Thanks for the info on the exhaust tips.

The gen 1 scoop is mesh not a solid piece of plastic I own both bikes and love them both equally. Great channel btw

You're in the wrong. Very wrong. The scoops in Gen 1 were aluminium and only the left was fully blocked, because there were electric parts and relays underneath. The right one, covering the coolant inlet had mesh and there was air flow. However it was not functional, because the air wasn't directed to the airbox.

The air scoops of the 2005 20th Anniversary are made of metal. The 2106 air scoops, are polished plastic.

Good point about the tyre pressures. I find my MAX handles like a pig if only a few PSI below recommended, like trying to steer a tank with one finger! So, like you, I keep mine at 42PSI. Will be interesting to see how your tyres wear over the next few thousand miles. From what I have read the front ones wear out before the rear, and quite quickly. Great videos by the way!

Jeff you are top notch and squared away,,,your parents must be very proud of you!! Thanks for all U do! :) While I am at time critical of the Gen 2, there is still no other machine made that can compare. Can you in the future talk about engine guards or PUCKS for the Gen 2? When I bought my 05 new, I ordered it and when it arrived at the dealer I took photos when the crate arrived and as it was taken out and assembled,,it was a major touchstone in my life and has enriched my life so much. I ordered with the windscreen boulevard and engine guards and and YES warranty, I think with all that and taxes and helmet $11,000 OTD. Any ways when the dealer called and told me all was in except the engine guards I told them "no guards no money",,they had them in within a a couple days,,that is how important that one item is to me! :) My best to you and yours Jeff. :)

The tire pressures are just starting points. You should adjust for rider, passenger, cargo, temperature, type of riding ... see Dave Moss Tuning on youtube. He is an expert in bike suspension and has great videos.

Does anyone speculate that there may be a GEN 3 V MAX. production was cut in 2012 and in 2013 out came the Gen 2. If not, I will hold on to my 2014 for a good classic vehicle price later. V Max is the best ride. Just barely crack the throttle and hold on.

Ummm... The production for Gen2 started at 2009. I have a 2009 Gen2 :) But I don't think that we'll ever see a Gen3, because the emission standards are getting tighter globally, and the VMAX, especially Gen2, has always been "an expensive, marginal product". I think they stopped the sales in Europe a couple of years ago already, due to not meeting European emission standards. Unless we get an Electric V-Max. E-Max? :-D
