i personally have worked on seadoo/skidoo for 20 years, dealer trained, that being said my personal machine is a yamaha for water and now, fit and finish is excellent, yamahas electronics is way better will last a lifetime, yamahas engines are extremely reliable in comparison to doo, if u are trading in every year or so , seadoo is fine but if u plan on keeping the machine past warrenty or for any lengh of time u r crazy to purchase one, like i said 20 plus years at a dealership workin on these , their sleds are no better

Going off the smaller waves from boats (rather than ocean waves) does the Yamaha bounce of them more though? Feeling like you are slapping the water and hard impact rather than cutting through a wave? This is my big question which has holding back on Yamaha; from a comfort perspective. why do seadoos have a rep for sinking?? I can’t really find anyone addressing it. I know a friend with a Yamaha who goes out with a buddy with a seadoo and it’s newer than 2019, started sinking it the other day. Is it just maintenance? I’ve never seen a Yamaha have that problem and I’m torn between the two. I’m worried seadoo might have more issues.

Yamaha change the ride plate for the fx svho from 2019 because it was to fast and was not in compliance with the Coast Guard, same for the gp1800 svho

4 pistons 1.8cc might have more torque than 3 pistons 1.6 cc. It's true that the yamaha should be faster, but is not only the engine, the hull desing and the weight distribution have a lot to do, as well as the intake grate as well as the propeller, not forgetting about the wear ring wastement. What about the driver capacity of trimming the ski? It's an overall of many factors together.

Both will do the job and are great machines. I personally like Seadoo a bit better as the ride quality feels improved. The seat for Yamaha is a little wider than seadoo giving me a bit less confidence riding. You won’t go wrong with any.

If you change the carbon seal like i did on time they won't sink. But if it does, it has insurance and then it will be time for another new Sea-Doo. : )

@@charlottecountyriders You can't beat the quality build of the yami. Also when you Modify a yamaha and a seadoo with the exact same Mods, the yamaha is faster everytime. Lets also not forget yamaha own 90% of the jetski rentals accross the US. Sinkdoo's just can't keep up on reliability or performance wise. Yamaha just took 4 out of 5 of the circuit racing this last year. :)
