Today will be the maintenance of the rear brakes for the VSTAR 1100, For this purpose the saddle bags have been removed, also, the top slip-on exhaust pipe has also been removed.
My Pads are the EBC FA88HH, they do not come with the support pad that the OEM may come with this is PN 1WG-25919-00-00
The brake pedal should not be touched once the process begins.
I've had no success on my bike pushing in the piston with my fingers I describe another method in the video with channel locks.
Note my use of minimal anti-seize is not called out in the official procedure, its just something I do.
Brakes should be bled tested adequately before operating the bike.

I have a different way of compressing pistons. I take a large screwdriver with the pads still in place between the pads and twist it to compress both pistons at the same time. Then I install new pads. This way I avoid marking the caliper.

Excellent video almost as good as my own ha ha. Another system I use to compress pistons is with the old pads in place , a BIG screwdriver twisted to push the pistons back in.

Thx for the idea to use two sets of pliers to push the piston back into the housing. It worked really well. I have always used a C clamp but the pliers were much faster and easier.

The 2 pliers allows for more even pressure IMHO.

"The longer tangs "a" on the brake pad spring must point in the direction of disc rotation." that says service manual, that means in oposite direction, isnt it?

I have a 05 V-Star 1100 Classic and I need to replace the rear rotor as well as the rear brake pads. I cannot find a video on this. Could you do one for KZbin?

Can you load a link to the factory service manual in the comments here and a minimum disk thickness? As a cheat? I'm going to look, but you seem to have a factory manual and smart enough to know. Same request for your front brake video. Anyone who subscribes to your channel will get the comment notification as well.

My rear caliper is stuck. After removing the two main bolts it wont slide out. Any chance you have any idea how to losen it, without damaging it? Its the same bike and year as yours but. It was left unused, outside for years, and illve been slowly restoring it. All i have left is the brake maintenance and it wont come off.
