I am 53 yrs old and I still love dirt bikes. I have a RT 100 project I have started on. I have gotten new clutch plate kit, new carb, new crank bearing seals. New throttle cable, and a oil pump block off kit. I'd rather mix oil and gas. It is just something to play around with and won't hurt myself to bad if I wreck. LOL. I do ride a FZ07 street bike. I love it. Keep the videos coming, I learn a lot from you guys.

Greetings from Alabama! Your videos have given me the knowledge and the inspiration to fix my 2001 YZ250F that’s been sitting neglected for almost 6 years. I would binge watch all your videos while cleaning the carb, heat gun the plastics etc. Happy to say she’s looking and running great now. Got a few idea for it too based on your projects. Thank you for the joy and entertainment you and your wife bring to the the KZbin community. Keep on keepin on!

I always thought it was cool how you made Kawasaki street legal. When I was younger I always wanted to make my Yamaha IT125 street legal. Unfortunately it sits in apart in my parents garage collecting dust, likely never to run again. Maybe one day I will have the monetary means and will to put it back together and get it running. But I find all your work very inspirational, maybe one day you will inspire me enough to tackle that project.

I traded up for a yz250 few years back. it was just the motor and frame. Spent a year rebuilding it and was a few tiny parts away from riding when I had to part ways with it. I wanted to get back into riding this year so I bought an underpowered clone xg250 tricker. Now after watching your video I have decided on what engine I want to swap into it. Ps been watching for a while now but just realized I somehow I was no longer subscribed. Fix that now I have a few vids to catch up on. Thanks for the great vids.

I want to start by saying, I started watching your videos last week and I have binge watched almost all of them. You and your family are wonderful, and it seems like you all have a very tight knit close relationship and it’s valued, that’s so rare to find these days. Also you are a very intelligent and savvy man, I have a great appreciation for your videos and everything I have seen so far. With that being said, I personally would love to see you sell this bike and fund a project that may be slightly out of your wheelhouse, but one I would love to see, and I’m sure several other folks would love to see also. My suggestion for a project is to find a Yamaha Blaster frame, and do a YZ250 swap into it.... granted I know the blaster is way out dated, and there are bigger power plants on the block than the YZ250, but I have seen so many shotguns craftsman attempt this project and they all fail or come up short.... I really feel like you have the fabrication and mechanical aptitude to make it safe and reliable and practical without taking the shortcuts I have seen others take. Anyways, thank you for this channel and sharing your love of all things, and your dedication to putting forth effort to do things in a respectable way, and I can’t wait to see your future projects!!

I was able to patch up my 1997 yz250's HUGE gash in the tank that came from it being an older bike, and sitting in the southern california sun for some summers. I simply cut a few strips of "welding rod" which was HDPE Plastic that came from a shampoo bottle. I sealed up the initial crack with the soldering iron, then I fed in my material into the crack. I did this until it wouldn't leak. simple as.

the captive nuts you can get out usually by prying behind the shroud with something while turning them impact works better for this or use a little heat on the bolt and get the plastic soft and pull them out and then just epoxy them back in place.

You can remove the shroud bolts by wedging a flathead under the bolt head while spinning it out with a drill. Or if u just pry it out completely the insert will Come out too and you can put it back in with glue

FYI the engine needs to be at top dead center to check valve clearances. There are alignment marks on the flywheel.
@georgeminns5 жыл бұрын
it doesnt, the valve your checking just needs to be closed, the valves dont close more or less at tdc than they do at any other time during operation, if the lobe is pointing away from the shim its as closed as its going to get
@OffroadEffex5 жыл бұрын
I’m not trying to start an argument, just curious- I would agree the VALVE is fully closed when the cam lobe is facing away, but the cams aren’t perfectly circular so the cam may hang lower/higher depending on its place in rotation. Valve clearance is measuring the distance between the valve and cam so how could you expect precise and consistent measurements if your cams aren’t in a consistent position? Especially if they’re not in the exact position (TDC) the service manual calls for when the service manual is what’s giving you the accepted clearances.

I say supermotard! The WR is the perfect bike for a conversion. Fork seals will be next. I've had several WR 426s and every one of them needed fork seals. Tell you the truth once I drove a 4-stroke I'll never buy a 2-stroke again. If you trail ride in the woods you'll get it. So you might consider keeping this bike and may be get rid of another two stroke in your garage. You might need to replace the accelerator pump diaphragm. They're known to get hard and lose their flexibility overtime. There's an old zip tie trick you can do to help the accelerator pump react faster. And find a nice renthal handlebar. I put a fat bar on mine and the adapters moved the handlebars up a little bit and made the bike a lot more comfortable.
