After a year of work and waiting, I have finally completed my Scrambler build. This is a 1981 Yamaha XJ550 Maxim that is now an XJ550 Scrambler. I hope you enjoy taking a look at latest project.

There was something about the style of the original bike I was attracted to.

9:05 Hey, its me, the dude with the XJ550 Cafe Racer and "maximum lean over seating position" :D all for the look :D

Lol, I was speaking from experience having built 2 cafe racers in the past. That's why I wanted to try something different this time. Thanks for watching!

I got a 1981 XJ550 Seca from my dad (Bought it off him for 50 bucks lol) that I'm in the process of taking apart. Want to make it into a Cafe Racer but do the original paint (White with Red Stripe and Gold) He Painted the whole thing black. hasn't ran in years and was last registered in 1992 in Georgia. It's gonna be a lot of work. but im excited to get it all back together

I have a “very slow” Cafe Racer project on KZbin using a 1980 XJ750. The tank colour is similar to what I have in mind, very cool man well done 🇦🇺🏍👍🏻

Thanks, a slow project can still be a fun project.

Hi, what is the difference between the 500 and 550? Cant seem to find any info about the 500 anywhere.
@TimsMotorcycleAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Not sure, from a quick google search it looks like the 500 was one year only in Europe. I'm in Canada, so I wouldn't know anything about it.

Hey Tim, did you need to re-jet the carbs?
@TimsMotorcycleAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, I had to re-jet the carbs. I found a company online that took my mods done and gave me the right jets that I needed.

The bike looks beautiful, except the seat. The seat looks like it is just kind of put in there.

Nothing technical here! maybe his local mechanic did all the work, all good.
@TimsMotorcycleAdventures Жыл бұрын
Nope, I did all the work myself, but I didn't want to bore people with the specifics.

Oh, and I did a few build videos with the process, so the technical stuff you can watch there.
