If you've got an old steel (driven) clutch plate, you can drill a couple of holes in it, and bolt it to a steel bar, with spacers in between, and use that as a clutch centre holding tool.

Wow the paint in that engine is looking great. Once the engine is back together the rest is the fun stuff I think. Paint ect.

As someone else said those posts on the drum aren't very strong and break easily. You must of heard me shouting No! A cheap tool can be made from an old steel plate and length of steel flat or round. Just weld it on to make a handle and use it to hold the drum while you tighten the nut. Or just put it back in the bike. Coming along nicely. Soon the joy of getting the cylinder block back on. Take my advice and get a competent friend to help out that day. You will need more that one pair of hands. Following with interest.

I’m glad your hockey stick bent and stopped you continuing.Those posts are not going to like being leaned on!It doesn’t take much to break them,believe me.Much better to tighten them up when the lump is in the frame.All the best.

If you had turned your hockey stick 90 degrees and used one of the bolt holes in the case to hold the handle, stretch instead of compress, your masterpiece would of worked Nat. 😂

Do you get the impression we're all glad your hockey stick idea didn't work, those posts have the structural integrity of cheese. Even the bolt torque is low when the whole clutch is rebuilt.
