I've had this exact experience syncing xj600s carbs, two bottles work perfectly, but first doing a bench sync of the carbs made the process a lot easier! (and first fixing a poor idle by replacing cracked carb rubbers.)
@Mezzmoengineering4 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I did a bench sync and have replaced the shaft seals but somehow I have a feeling the actual throttle shafts might be worn to a point where its still sucking in air

@@Mezzmoengineering Hello there! So, is there any solutions to that issue with throttle shafts? Faced with it on mine XJ650
@Mezzmoengineering Жыл бұрын
@@Skywalker9201 Hi mate, in the end my issue was just tuning. I used brand new V rings and all other seals but due to my mods I did have to mess with the jet sizes a number of times to get it right. If your mixture or tuning is out it can do all sorts of strange things...

Sigma 6 jet kit: Did you end up using the drilled out slides? Reason i ask is my 650 is similar with air pods low back pressure pipes. I don't have a spare set of carbs to undo the drill out. i'm in the middle of the sync process and have the YIKS blank tool, seem to be pretty good however have runaway throttle. How do I avoid this? idle is good until engine hot then the idle seems to raise way out of control. Please help Also, new intake boots which I removed and going to apply RTV on both side of the gasket and reinstall thinking i have a vaccuum leak? I didn't do a propane test out of fear...ha..ha..
@Mezzmoengineering2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, yes I did drill out the slides on my carbs and it works well. This allows the carbies to shut off quickly under deceleration eliminating back firing. I did have to mess with the jet sizes to get it right as what 6Sigma suggested were too big. A color tune tool is also a good way to see if your running rich which is my guess on your engine.

Ok I messed with the 7 screws on the top that does the air or gas flow can u show me how or talk me through about how many turns each screw is in or out . Id greatly appreciate help
@Mezzmoengineering2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, the 4 mixture screws at 2.5 turns out should be close. The others need to be adjusted manually until the butterflies all close at the same time. You can get the butterflies close be removing carbies and using a light to see when they are all fully closed

@@marklivesey8123 Hi mate, the XJ750 and XJ650 engine casings are the same so will fit into either XJ650 and XJ750 frame. I've had both frames and there are very minor differences, I don't think you will have any issues

Have you thought about bringing your bike down to 2 carbs? I would like to get my 82 xj 750 down to a single carb but that sounds unrealistic hahaha

Sounds interesting but for me I like having quad carbs
@rodslogic43504 жыл бұрын
Interesting I've never seen it done that way much cheaper than a bank of vacuum gages👍
@Mezzmoengineering4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, yep works good and best of all its less than $10 to build. In fact I think its more accurate than the cheaper vac gauge sets as they usually read by inches where as this will read down to the exact levels of each other which is far less than an inch. Even 1/8 of an inch difference is very easy to see with this set up

bet all those plugs didnt need to be changed and coil were good you just should have bought a real pro sync carbs lol but nice built really good videos but i whould have paint the frame black and all the bike black and make it boober instead of more like a coffee race style flat but hey that some great videos you made my friend thumb up !!

Thanks for the feedback. that's the great thing about bike builds, everyone is different. I wanted to make something a little different so chose not to go with black frame as almost everyone does that.
