Merc are a joke in the UK they last 3 winters. Yamaha and Johnyrude here, suzy and Parsons if you want a cheap copy yam. Thats for anone that knows anything about anything to do with anything engine wise where its hot one day and freezes the next. Cheers.

I would take Yamaha if Honda is not available. In FL Mercury OB is more available and dealers. That is why they are more popular. I want that Yamaha V8-425hp , yeah single or twin on Cobalt R8. 😛. Super on lake, not slow on sea. I don't go to crazy off shore fishing.

The Yamahas are the meanest sounding outboards I've ever heard, not to mention the balls. I was raised by dad and uncle on inboards which cost less initially and cost less to maintain and repair but wow outboards have come a long way. Great vid.😉

You know this 5.6 is a bored and stroked 4.4 Volvo XC90 engine? Also used in the Noble M600 supercar, twin-turbocharged. The Yamaha 4.2 V6 is also part of the same family.

Me old man had a 16 foot Hydrasport rated for 115HP, and after strengthening the transom, he stuck a 200HP Yamaha on there. 110km/h with standard pitch prop. Loaded with dual fuel tanks, dual batteries, typical bass fishing rig. About 1986.

Nah he’s going Southwest. The sun at 2:44 pm is somewhat to the west and you can see in the video by the shadow on the motor that the sun is in front and to the right which means he’d be heading in a southwest direction.

@@stover77 the idiot on the vid did not trim the boat out. he timmed up the enginne to almost 45 degress , pushing down the aft and making bigger waves and slow the boat down compared with a trimed out boat. You dont get the the thrust with uptrimed engine pushing down the aft and that slows the boat down. i have competed in boat racing in the f3 class in 15 years so i think i know how it works !!. If the thrust i pointed 45 degress down in the water in quite easy to understand that you losing speed vs if its pointed totally flat with the surface....if you dont undertand that you have serious problems with your brain. And if the boat dives with a flat trimmed engine the boat is totally shit and has wrong construction..Easy as that !!!!

A boat displaces it’s own weight in the water. The heavier the boat, the more water that needs to be pushed out of the way. Hence creating more water resistance. With the right bass boat this motor could easily take it to 60+mph, but I’m assuming this boat is a little larger or has a deeper hull. ( But personally I’d agree not to buy this motor cause I’d have to sell my kidney just to cover half of the cost)
