Very interesting take on the timing adjustment. I just got back on a YZ250. I had lost that lovin feeling on my 4 stroke. You mention that hesitation, almost like it has a jetting issue right before it really hits. I have it. I bought mine used but it is solid. I just installed a APEX head to help it out. It is a 2015. I heard it helps with the need for race gas. Thoughts on the Apex? squish is in range. Happy to go offline if you wish. I am sea level also. So hard to get help on this stuff since everybody is in Cali and not at sea level.

My 15 engine marks was lined already, for the spark plug try an iridium spark plug with a OEM recommended Heat range. 🔧

Awesome to see your still enjoying the YZ! I just picked up my 2021> YZ 250 . Had to drive 300 mi to get it if that tells ya anything. Great vid and super appreciate your time and knowledge! My questions are a plenty , 1st what's your typical mix ratio % and fuel non-ethanol or just reg 87/prem.? What's the best break in maintenance in your opinion ? I have both track and trail available and I just want to do it right from the start ! Any advice always welcome sir. Thanks !

When I first got my 05 yz250, it had a ton of power. I mean almost uncontrollable power when the powerband kicked in. But I either got used to it, or after a few top ends, it doesn't seem to have that wild powerband anymore. It's still plenty fast and I'm pretty sure the powerband is working. It might be the Apex head. I'm gonna check the needle position soon.

I have always liked the 94 motor but wr not yz and port polised pipe bigger jets and reeds and weighted flywheel mine rips i also have a 91 but it felt like a 125 compared to the 94 but it seized the main bearing so now its getting built im gonna do different port and polish work and take the head down a titch and a lectron and im gonna try different reeds and pipe i like lower range torque with the wrs and the higway gears it doesn't need much more top

So did you change the cylinder head? Or you are using the lower compression new head with the old timing? You only use race gas?

I have a 2014 w/35 hours. Bills pipe,v3 reeds recluse clutch & fmf shorty muffler. Race gas. If I line up those marks, will I gain more torque?

If you do this your always going to want new fresh fuel every run. I’d even add a splash of race fuel.

Does a 2000 yz250 not have the marking on the case? I swear I can’t see anything aside from maybe a very slight ridge on that raised part but it doesn’t look like a marking
