Besides Sasaki and Yamamoto, there are more and more great young pitchers coming up in Japan.

It's interesting how Sasaki and Strider both rose to be absurdly high K-rate, mostly two pitch starters at the same time
@aljon5947 Жыл бұрын
It seems that Fastball+Gyro Sliders are deadly when you have a high velo fastball. Edwin Diaz is a two pitch like that too.

Right until he tears his arm tendon in 2025. Sorry it is either his shoulder or his TJ . His Velo dropped and not in the control way. He started changing his extension to attempt to make up for his speed loss and it showed all over 2024. The guy has top end skills but he has a secret and that is a slightly torn shoulder problem. So far he has rehabbed it himself without DR. But in the MLB they will force him to fix the issue and stop screwing around .

I wish the Cubs would get Yamamoto. That’d be great with Seiya Suzuki already on the team. These NPB pitchers are something else. I Love Japanese baseball

Sasaki one of those pitchers that will eventually be in MLB and if he doesn’t wannabe for some reason a team will make him with fat pay check not saying he doesn’t want to by the way just saying he’s that valuable

I truly believe in Yamamoto's skill, and he can absolutely dominate in the MLB. That said, it'd be nice if he hold off any plans to step there. Wait a bit more. If possible, go at the same time as Sasaki. In their outing in US, somehow it looked like US is still not hospitable for their stuff. Give it a year or two. On the other hand, Murakami should go to US immediately. He can thrive there immediately.

Hot take incoming, but I think the possiblity of Sasaki becoming a swingman or closer. In order to keep him filthy as long as can be without damaging his health, but maybe trying to give him more innings than a traditional closer. What if he was someone who pitches 3 innings every few games due to him being more used to higher pitch counts in the NPB. I'm no expert but I want to see this guy in the MLB for a long time when he makes the switch... I really would hate for him to become a Degrom or Strasburg and be the most dominant pitcher ever for only one or two seasons before becoming a tommy john magnet. Food for thought.
