Oh yeah!!! Can't wait to see the end result! These bikes are such a blank slate for customization and the aftermarket options are strong. I've had a lot of fun customizing mine via Hitchcocks and Tec Bike Parts USA, etc. Even the OEM catalog is solid, did the touring seat, bar ends, bar end mirror, oil cap, and the S&S pipes sound great and are covered under factory warranty. Someday....the big bore kit. It hardly needs it; these bikes are smiles-for-miles in stock form right off the showroom floor.

The header pipes also have CAT in them. You need to get a full-system. Also, try incorporating Fuel X & PowerTronic from RaceDynamics to really get the most of this engine.
@jamesfairmind2247
@jamesfairmind2247 2 жыл бұрын
The most important thing to realise about the 650 is that is the DOWNPIPES that cause most restriction, they are lined with silencing material. There is little point in putting on slip ons when for the same money you can buy a really cool full system from BS in Italy that are half the weight and look a million times better than the stock pipes whilst genuinely releasing power and a great sound.

I knew it!!! Suggestion: Please make a video on the different build types based on cost and simplicity- Cheapest ones can be on basic weight shedding by simple exhaust swap and the most expensive ones can be on plonking a bigger engine, engine mods, race spec suspension, etc.....
@toy014
@toy014 2 жыл бұрын
If you want it to go any more faster then there are a few more basic stuff that you need to do: 1. Change the Air Filter to DNA or SnS or anything that’s available in your country. 2. Change the spark plugs to and Iridium one. 3. Change the ECU (We have Powertronic here in India 🇮🇳). The mapping is important as well. 4. Get a lighter Header Pipe as it’s also very heavy as well. 5. The rear grab rail and the centre stand mounting handle which is at the rear end of the bike just below the seat and is screwed along with the rear grab rail can also come off too. If you do these I bet you can improve the performance a lot more. Hope you read my comment.

A guy at our club bought an Enfield GT Continental as a project which has the identical engine to the Interceptor, he changed the complete exhaust system including the catalytic converter and replaced it with a stinger 2 into 1 system, installed an S & S high performance camshaft kit, changed the rear shocks for Hagons, installed a high performance air filter and fuel booster plug, a Dynojet high performance ECU, removed the centre stand and changed the wheels to lightweight alloys, he told me he's got the weight down to 428lbs (with a full tank) and dynoed the bike at 67 bhp, his next move is the 865cc big bore kit which he's hoping will take it up to 85 to 90 bhp, I don't know if that's optimistic or not.
@shervindavid1452
@shervindavid1452 2 жыл бұрын
The bike does make 80+whp once the big bore kit is installed. Though a lot more tinkering is required. The guy who built his bike seems to know what to do with royal enfields, since that's the best way to increase power on the stock engine size. Have got an interceptor in the family and just a pipe and high flow aor filter changes things, looking into headers as we speak.

Lightweight wheels would be a good upgrade. Less unsprung weight and rotating mass means much faster turn in, as well as less inertia and better control which will compound with any suspension upgrades. Also, the stock wheels probably weigh a fair bit, so it could be a good way to shave quite a few lbs meaning better power:weight. Also gives the option to use different wheel/tire sizes, which could be beneficial. Could be a bit pricey but it would make quite a difference to both acceleration and cornering speed. That directly translates to smashing an SV on the track.

If you want to short cut the big bore kit there is a shop in the UK that sells the whole upper with the pistons. They also sell a cam and intake. The intake and cam alone is said to get you ten more ponies, or something like that.

Another for Tec Bike Parts. I got some suspension parts for my wife's 20' Triumph Speed Twin and was able to set some sag numbers and rebound balance. It was just simple preload caps for the forks and rear shocks with preload rings and adjustable rebound. Simple upgrade that works.
@sluicefriggins7757
@sluicefriggins7757 2 жыл бұрын
You simply must upgrade the suspension. The OEM springs are absolute A##. YSS fork kit will transform the bike with better handling and especially acceleration, so definitely "spring" for that upgrade. Yep, I did it again. Also, an easy cheap install is a K&N or DNA performance air filter to pair with the pipes. Let it breathe, ffs. Loving it, please keep modding the Enfield!!!
@GapBahnDirk
@GapBahnDirk 2 жыл бұрын
Now you should try YSS rear shocks and front fork kit for better handling and more weight saving. YSS suspension is firmer and it absorbs the bumps better. Also, if you don't want to go for the expensive big bore kit upgrade, a hotter camshaft will add about 10bhp. Wonderful stuff!

Why not start with a continental GT? Then you're halfway there already

Just swap out the handlebars lol thats one of the only differences between the two models. Im sure they will plan to upgrade to YSS suspension, so swapping for clip ons would be the next logical step for that video to happen.

Hey Yam, just a suggestion here why not switch out the handlebar to the continental GT's clip on handlebars for better cornering and a more sporty position. The GT footpegs are also a little raised so it'd make the interceptor way more track oriented. Love from India.

Try Powertronics ECU for INT650. It will do the job.

Curious why you guys got the interceptor if you cut off the center stand, plan on putting rear sets on it (all for better clearance), and will put clip on handlebars on, instead of just getting a Continental GT, which has all of those things already dealt with.. Better looking tank, too.

I think the Interceptor is the much nicer-looking bike than the GT, but I'm not a sport bike guy. I agree with you on the rest, though....they're ruining this bike and shoulda started with the GT

Put a turbo on it with a big bore kit. You'll have a bike that will surprise everyone with its performance and simultaneously still lose every race.

Yammie before you do more actual performance mods, get it to atleast stage 1 by putting some headers and an air filter, maybe a tune or power commander, swap parts from the GT into the bike to make it an interceptor GT. Should be fun, also pretty easy to do. Once you are happy with it, then go on with upping the capacity, high roller cams head studs etc. With all the mods done the bike should make about 80whp which is respectable. Though, not as cheap as the sv650 then.

@@fastec5 not about cheap, there's not a lot of fun in just getting a shop building your bike, especially on youtube, instead you can show off what you can do with your bike with just a small set of tools . Then show off what you it can do, if you do it professionally. Also more chances of failure if you do the hardcore performance mods, so this way you can enjoy the bike more even it it fails later down the line.

if you had taken the headers off you should have found inside each header a cyalitic converter which if you take out you would have got way more speed as the engines breaths better
