The reason I prefer cruisers is, I'm old and fat. I don't need to pull dank nooners or drag my pegs on the ground.. all I desire anymore is the wind in all three of my hairs and the bugs in my four teeth. Sport bikes are great and all.. and on short trips they're fun and flickable. But, on a long weekend ride. You just can't beat a two wheeled lazyboy. Not to mention.. old fat man like me has no business striding a busa with his belly flopped atop the gas tank. And his hairy, un-manscapped plumbers crack winking at the car behind him. 🤣... I'm not a cruiser guy but I definitely like a simple bike. Too much technological complexity makes for more systems that are prone to failure and a more difficult bike to repair and work on yourself. And unlike mechanical systems, electronic systems tend to fail instantaneously and without warning. Mechanical systems usually start to show signs and make strange noises long before they completely fail. This is the same reason I would never buy a Tesla.
@rbwhanson4 жыл бұрын
While I agree with many of the points can we stop comparing Baggers/Cruisers to sports bikes? They are bought for different reasons by a complete different set of riders and/or for a different mindset and ride style. Both are great for their purpose but you are doing a disservice by the constant comparison to sports bikes. It's like comparing a Truck to a Sedan. Can you compare them? Of course, but you are essentially comparing the towing capability of an F-350 to that of a Civic.

The thing is, a truck serves for something. You want to cruise, get a sport tour, or an adv
@joewaun8942 жыл бұрын
It's why I compare a cruzer to a touring bike. ( Goldwing ,concours,venture every just about every brand made a good touring bike with that specific purpose at one point ( except Harley just slapped bigger bags and faring on an already heavy big bike ). The early 1800 goldwings are amazing. The 1500s are known to go hundreds of thousands of miles.
@nhbountyhunter2 жыл бұрын
And just like in the car world the curiser (truck) out sells the car (sport bike) 3 to 1. You can't say a type of bike sucks if it has a real purpose. Again that is like saying a truck sucks because it can't handle or go as fast as a pony car. I can fill my saddle bags with all I need and do 1000 miles in 24hrs (iron butt). Sure you CAN do it on a sport, naked bike, or ADV but who will be more comfortable. ADV have come a long way but being so tall, and needing at least a semi off-road tire really hampers a true highway haul.
@tomoates85682 жыл бұрын
@@thisisthewolf9521 Cruisers definitely serve a purpose and have a clearly large market. Just because you can also cruise on a sport tour or an adventure bike doesn't mean that a cruiser bike no longer has a place. If we're still making the car comparisons it's like saying I can haul large items in an SUV as well, therefore trucks shouldn't exist. The bottom line is that it's a great thing that we have so many different options, because it keeps the companies producing the bikes innovative and competitive

Number 1 is so very true. I bought my Sportster seven years ago from a dealership, put 45,000 miles on it, and had a low speed tip over thinking I put my kickstand down but didn’t. I needed to replace my handlebar, so I went into the same dealer. I’ve been looking at the Low Rider S for a couple years now, with no intention to buy it because of number 4 at $28,000 and some change walk out price. Long story short they encourage me to just ride it after telling them I have no intention of buying one. They told me I should just ride it in case I come up on $28k I want to burn in the next couple of years. After my ride, they wanted to negotiate even though I told them I had no intention of buying. The general sales manager of the dealer then told me “hop back on your 2009 Iron and ride it hard and long and remember that your bike is not the Low Rider S and remember what you’re missing out on”. In one statement, that guy took me from a fan of Harley Davidson, to never going to buy another one in my life.
@coreycallahan74437 ай бұрын
Sounds like a shitty dealership. I understand your animosity toward the brand due to the sales techniques the dealership employed. I was in car sales for a long time and it seems like a lot of Harley dealerships are being forced to adopt the annoying techniques used in the auto industry ever since they went away from the mom and pop style dealerships. I still love Harleys but I doubt I’ll ever buy another one from a dealership unless they stop requiring their stores to use high pressure sales techniques. That’s why I got out of the car business, I don’t like to pressure a potential buyer into making such a big financial decision before they’re ready. If the features and benefits of the product when properly presented don’t convince them to pull the trigger then browbeating them and hounding them will just drive them away. Just as it did in your case.

He built bikes with S&S evo motors. Still not an Indian and even an insult to the Indian purist. He sold it to a group of investors from Canada. They got sued by HD for using a HD style engine.A federal judge said they needed a proprietary motor and transmission. They did the trans first and rushed a so called power plus engine into production. That motor was GARBAGE. Going 100+ MPH when all other traffic around you is going 45, just because you have 180 HP is NOT enjoying motorcycle riding. Your middle finger gets a lot of work-out when the problem is you. These riders always find a reason to stop and rest after about 50 or less miles. Your brain (or what's left of it) is always in the red zone. Survival zone. That is mentally exhausting and you can't stay that way for long before you either stop to rest or get stopped by a guardrail or tree. ginger GIANT I didn’t remember specifying about about street glide? OP never even mentioned it. Not sure why you’re bringing it up. Yes it is simple. It’s a v twin with fairings and chrome. There’s no real engineering or anything that went into. Harley just slaps some crap on a basic chassis with shiny bits and prices the hell out of it. The CBR1000RR SP2 has ohlins dampers, adjustable shocks at the push of a button, adjustable throttle response, adjustable engine braking, adjustable traction control, adjustable wheelie control, ABS, titanium pieces, over 190hp from a hand built factory race engine that’s way smoother than a base CBR, actually engineering on swing arm geometry to allow side to side flex to keep the tire in contact when leaned over, big ass brakes, a GP quick shifter with auto blipped downshifts first clutchless shifting. It has all those features and probably some other ones and all that engineering and somehow costs less than your street glide ultra. Street glide has what? A wide seat, fairing and bags, a radio, and some abs with less than 100hp on a 500+ pound bike for $30,000. OG and don’t forget chrome, lots of chrome. Cause that’s totally an exotic material like titanium 😂
@Wyrdrock4 жыл бұрын
I didnt say an ultraglide or whatever other monstrosity harley is putting out these days is what I meant, in fact I can't really think of any modern examples of what I meant. But the notion still stands that simplicity is a quality to be valued in motorcycles and is found more-so in cruisers than sports bikes. Not that the engineering in sportsbikes isnt amazing, it's just not needed by most of us on the road, and having stuff you dont need while riding detracts from a certain experience.
@gingergiant15424 жыл бұрын
@@wholelottamiata6976 there's no way I can justify the price of a Harley. Especially the simple models like the fat bob, or any other dyna models. I've never owned nor will I ever own a harley. Just due to the fact that I can't justify the price for one. Even a used one. I currently own a Yamaha Raider, and absolutely love it. I paid 8k for it and I definitely got what I paid for. And to answer your original question. The simple bikes are expensive because Harley can charge that much, and people are willing to pay out the ass for the Harley image. And in all honesty, comparing a high performance sport bike to a cruiser is a ridiculous thing to do. They serve different purposes in every aspect. It's like comparing muscle car to a McLaren. And I misspoke when I automatically inserted an ultra glide as an example for a "simple bike". My mistake

Koop its tons of fun but it’s a fun I enjoy. I love cruising down windy country/mtn roads with nothing to worry about. I’ve never found enjoyment from trying to hit a corner top speed but I’m not saying those who do are wrong. I don’t think one type of bike is better than the other. Each type of bike is made for each type of rider that rides those bikes. It would suck if there was only one type of bike and we all had to ride that kinda bike right? So I just try to praise all bikers no matter what they are riding!

Starter bike was a cruiser I inherited. Did multiple wet-night rides in my first week, then a long haul 12 hour cruise across the state with 2 slow spills. Literally any other bike would be uncomfortable, uninteresting, ran out of fuel, destroyed by hipbone and probably wouldn't motivate me to build muscle. The real skill comes from staying calm when it's all in your hands. The insurance tho; fk me I do need a 650

Saying cruisers suck is like saying “pontoon boats suck - they are slow and heavy and underpowered and can’t turn for shit - you should really buy a jet ski with 250HP”. And then you ride around the lake and EVERY cabin has a pontoon out front. So you see a jet ski racing up and down the lake, and the guy gets bored AF and then it’s parked, and the gang spends the next 5 hours out on the pontoon. Sport bike vs cruiser. Same thing.

Every time this channel makes a video like this about cruisers I just laugh because nothing mentioned has anything to do with what make a cruiser appealing to begin with. No cruiser rider gets a cruiser for the performance. They are built for style and comfort, not speed. Your inability to understand that does not mean they suck. It simply means you don't understand what make a cruiser appealing to their target audience. It's like a harley guy saying Sport bikes suck because their spine torture ergonomics. No one by a sport bike because they are comfortable. Next up: Dirt Bikes Suck because they can't keep up on a paved race track with the Yamaha R1's. 😂
@Alfa44 жыл бұрын

Maybe it's because I'm not in America, but the ratio is about 30% for sport, 90% Harley (of course there is always the case when it's not safe for the biker to wave back). It was underpowered and handled like a row boat. Got rid of it. Next was a different beast . A 2022 Triumph Rocket 3 GT (triple black limited edition). Now that bike is something. Whatever you’ve heard about it is probably true but for all of its positive attributes that beautiful machine is still a physically large and heavy bike. You just can’t get over it. So, I recently sold it for what I paid for it new with over 15,000 miles on it. I’m currently looking for something else and right now. I’m looking hard at a Yamaha MT 09 SP and it’s close competitors. I want something smaller, lighter, flickable, reliable, and fun. Fat old aunt Helen and her walker need not apply.

This video is kinda pointless. You don’t get a cruiser to go fast. The same way you don’t get a saloon car or a pickup truck to go fast. This is like comparing a 70s muscle car to a mclaren p1. I agree price is inflated but that’s because of the novelty that goes with buying one. I’m not saying it’s worth it (I don’t own a cruiser) but I don’t think this is a very useful comparison. European bro here I mean i get the hype behind cruisers but (logically speaking) isn't an adv/touring bike just better in any way?

apparently not unless it has 180 hp

Objectively an adventure bike is the best all-round bike.... i guess...

I can tell you are a youngster. The style of riding you do is what you base your bike preference on. I have been riding for 50 years and would not ride a crotch rocket if you paid me. What "sucks" is a matter of personal preference and personal opinion. Enjoy your channel.

Do a video on the four Honda 500CC's, they're so much fun, no one can dislike them!!!!

My father recently got a rebel 500 and I've been borrowing it, surprising amount of torque, it flicks into corners easily, it's nice and light and it's great on fuel. Coming off of my vtx1300, it's a completely different beast and I've been having alot of fun on it. The rebel for me is the best of both worlds, cruiser seating and sport bike-like handling

I've got a cb500x & I can ride it on dirt, on highway, it's THE PERFECT Swiss Army knife of bikes, in my opinion! :P I've been trying to get my buddy I've known since gradeschool to pick up the 500 Rebel as well, we've already looked twice at them, I honestly think Honda's done a very smart thing building 4+ bikes out of the same engine but jussssst slightly altering things to change rider needs. I've ridden an 1100, 650, two 500's, two 250's, a 125 & a 50cc & I LOVE the CB500X over all bikes, power isn't everything!!!!

@@aliasfakename2267 That's the fun about cruisers, torque, long roads, group rides, passengers are comfortable. Riding isn't always just about speed, it's about having fun with your ride. That said, i currently just own superbikes but i do like to take it slow sometimes.

Violet Victoria I used to ride a cb500x and that thing didn’t like turning at speed, I liked the seating position better than the cruiser I’ve got right now, but somehow the cruiser handles better( I ride a Kawasaki Vulcan 650 btw) anyway my next bike is probably gonna be a naked bike, or an adventure bike because cruisers are uncomfortable for any longer riding.

Love me my cbr500r but i doooo wish it was faster. Its the perfect speed for doing everything except passing slow pokes. 😆 Its sadly forcing me to upgrade so i can get that extra umph.

This is biker boys racism! Lol, I ride both a Harley and VF4 800 and I always wave and smile on both bikes, but I always were a helmet so they prob can’t see me smile! 😊

I have to say, YES, I can do that on a road king because I took motorcycle training courses. But those skills were learned in the basic riding course. And it feels amazing to say I can do that.
