I greeted him at the door, and mentioned I assumed he was coming in for apparel. The other reason to move around in the lane is road strategy. Position 1 when approaching intersections so that cars waiting to pull out see more motion than if you were in position 2 or 3. Position 3 when there's a long line of cars coming because then the cars that might be itching to pull out to pass can see you faster, and also you can bail out to the shoulder faster if one of them pulls out anyway. Lots of other position choices come down to safety.

I ride a 1988 Katana 1100 with 115,000 km on it and with 4 carbs. I set the idle to 950 - 1000 RPM and it sits and idles fine once it's had a few minutes to warm up. I never have to blip the throttle at lights to keep it running. Nothing wrong with carburetted if they are set up by someone that knows what they're doing. :)

Anyone know if colorado has laws against lane filtering? I hope they are 1 of the 18

You make assumptions about foot down. When I had a light clutch I always kept my left foot down and held the clutch. Now I've upgraded to an 1854 cc v-twin Roadliner with a very heavy clutch and I have a small upper body. No way am I going to hold my clutch at every light. So I go to neutral at the light, requiring some foot work. No I'm not an expert rider, but I've been doing it safely for decades after taking those all important lessons at the start. Consider the clutch before criticizing.

A point of note here, the space on the road allowed for a bike is THE SAME AS A CAR. The powers that be don't allow us to split the lanes, fine the space that is allowed a motorcycle is the same as a mack truck. That means the full width and length. The law says bikes have no special laws so the space they are allowed on the road is the same as a car. End of story.

Just one problem with your foot down Theory. I have a bad left knee I've been riding motorcycles seance 1963 and I change feet to rest that sore knee . What do I ride bicycles to keep my knees flexible and any one of four motorcycles all different types.

Bro I don't agree with the being in neutral to stop light is a beginner thing I still do that and I probably won't ever stop because trust me in Texas we have some long lights I did a burnout at one light by accident because my fingers just couldn't hold the clutch any longer and so when I went to let it out I couldn't let it out slow it just kind of let go that's why I use neutral

I always put the bike in to Neutral at the lights. This way, I'm not having to hold the clutch in & keep pressure on the hydraulics. But... if I'm on an incline I may have to use the rear brake to hold the bike still. Then I have to swap legs to engage gear to pull away. (Actually, I've now got a Triumph Rocket GT with Hill Hold which is great!) but I still put the bike in Neutral.

Well on 5, it is very well possible to revmatch without having the engine scream. It only takes the littlest of adjustments and it should not change the revs by much. I lived in a small village in Bavaria that had massive traffic going through it and what half those dickheads are doing by screaming their bike through the village, I don't know. I just hope that they have their bike crap out on them on the Autobahn in the middle of a 30 km traffic jam in a thunderstorm miles away from anywhere with sheer cliffs on either side, an attack of explosive diarrhea and no change of clothes. On 6, I do that. If I roll up to a light that I know will be red for a while, I'll pop the bike into neutral. Hence left leg down, realise I got it arseways, right leg down, shift to neutral and wait. Better than holding the clutch for 5 minutes.

A lot of talk about safety gear which I agree with 100%, but the best safety measure a rider can do is to be aware, check your mirrors and always know what is in your general area, with that said Yam and his Bro took the left mirror off the Rebel turned the right one upside down, because it looks cool. Just sayin
@expatbiker65983 жыл бұрын
Do above and wear safety protection as well. All your awareness won't stop a distracted/ intoxicated driver from hitting you.
@frankfromchicago92483 жыл бұрын
@@expatbiker6598 It won't stop a sniper from picking you off either, I think your analogy is missing the point, all we can do is to control what we do, so what are you saying don't bother with your mirrors because someone is going to be texting and rear end you anyway. Not trying to be rude, just saying two mirrors are better than one------Have a good day maybe one day we will pass each other with two fingers down.

Cars have 6 pairs of tires. If one pair looses traction, you have the other 2 pairs. 10:15
