Im surprised that ILM (Ya I know its an Amazon helmet) was not included in this budget episode. I have the z501 Armor Red and honestly for the price its well worth for what I use it for. Mountain biking with a new standard for helmets. Or at least trying to set a new standard up here in Canada. Still great episode with very useful info.

Scorpion EXO 420 is not a bad rig after all it has a lot of features and benefits of the go fast cool factor better looking and aerodynamic of any of the serious beginner to medium advance type use and the price is killer! Something important you forgot to mention about ECE is that they require testing for rotational forces too, whereas Snell & DOT don't. For the majority of motorcycle applications, ECE is actually the safest rating to look for. (Fellow Fortnine viewers will also be aware of the shady shit behind the Snell sticker that makes them overall untrustworthy, as well)

@@rayhan4502 There's 2 different Snell ratings. One of them is the old classic double drop, high impact test that was based on requirements for race car drivers rather than motorcyclists, but at least had safety in mind. The other is basically a half hearted, unsafe test that was designed so that Snell helmets could pass the same standards as ECE, therefore allowing Snell helmets to be sold in countries that require ECE certification. Not all that shady in & of itself, but both standards are shipped with the same label, so you can never know if any helmet with a Snell sticker has been tested with the standards that are at least safe for race car drivers, or if it got a half-assed testing so that Snell could sell their sticker in Europe.

The scorpion is my first helmet and I’d definitely recommend it. There really isn’t much wind noise even at high speeds.

The Scorpion helmet I have has a very scratch resistant face shield, much longer lasting than my previous helmets. Note the DOT rating is self reported so might be total hogwash. ECE and Snell are independent tested. See the Sharp rating system online, from the UK.

I’ve been wearing a cheap fuel helmet that cost 80 bucks the guy I bought my first motorcycle from (ninja 250r) gave it to me and I didn’t realize there was it was a bullshit helmet till watching this frankly after riding many motorcycles with it and close calls I think it’s time to upgrade lol

I know your video is about one year old already but I just got chance to see it today. I don't know how other helmets quality but I won't recommend helmet from Bell, I got rear end to a car at 25 km/h and my head hit the rear windscreen of the car. My helmet got a dent and broke one tooth of mine, the screen came off and left many scratches on my face. I would send you a picture of my helmet after the accident if you need I prove my words. If I went faster, I might have serious head injury with the Bell helmet.

HJC is THE best cheap helmet brand ever. It’s a total package and I’ve ran their CS-R3, C70 and now C71 models. The noise-proofing and comfort, along with features and designs, totally punch above their price

Got my Bell Qualifier DLX MIPS last week. Too bad this video just came out. At least got confirmed that it's a good helmet. LOL. Not too many choices for 3XL round head. Maybe you can consider doing a video for super large/small heads which are usually hard to find a helmet (like which brand usually make bigger helmet, etc).

@@rickbreezy349 oh, I love it. Fits much better than my old LS2. Only thing is I chose the fallen angle graphics which is too high profile to me. Also, it's a bit warm in the south. I might get some modular one like scorpion exo for summer

Question for Americans, is it legal to ride without a helmet there? I only ask because you see people in cinema and social media riding without helmets and i was wondering is that a small subset of dickheads who neither care about the law and their life or if it is in fact just not law.

even my Shoei helmet has terrible wind noise and is supposed to be a lot better than these entry level helmets in that department. I just wear ear plugs which I can't convince my wife to do.

I'd love to see you do a review of the 509 street helmets. They are DOT & ECE certified and seem to be very reasonably priced. There isnt much info about these helmets out there and Im hesitant to order one without knowing they are too good to be true.

The bell qualifier was my first helmet and was terrible, very cheap feeling, creaked all the time, would fog up, had crazy wind noise, the visor would not seal with the gasket when closed. Was light and cheap though. I would not recommend it.

Best ten bucks I ever spent in my life was for a US combat vehicle crewman (CVC, aka DH-132 tanker) helmet I picked up at an incredible sale at a war surplus store in the late 1980s. I liked it because the ear pieces fold in and stores away easy in the bike luggage or a backpack. $2 for cheap rubber army goggles and they're good to go. Decades later, that helmet saved my life when I got in a motorcycle collision with a minivan driven by a 16-year-old with a rather... relaxed view of what those YIELD street signs suggest. Scratched up the helmet and utterly ruined the goggles, but I didn't get a scratch (and my ancient US Air Force arctic parka saved my arms and elbows as well).
