Yammie Noob look forward to what you think. Best giveaway yet!! Love the channel. I have the 2018 Street Triple R. I love it. Best all round street bike I’ve ever had!! It’s my 6th Triumph and my 2nd Triple. I have a 2002 Sprint RS as well but the chassis/motor in this bike is just sublime!! I dialed my suspension back a bit. It’s just a blast of a bike. It’s overkill for sure but that’s the point!! Nice work Papa (says the 52 year old).

I bought my '16 triple because of yammie's love for the 3-cylinder motor in the Daytona. Best decision ever. I was dead set on a Ducati Monster, until I tried the triple and fell in love with the throttle response, flickability and mid torque grunt.

@@InTransit8911 I did the exact same! I was originally going to go with an R6 but I wasn't happy with the banding of it. Sat on an MT-07 and MT-09 and just felt it was missing something. Sat on the RS and that torque had me nearly ripped off and I loved it, dealers sealed the deal by slapping a full system arrow on it too.

@mirlin235 I’ve got the quick up on mine, fine by me because I enjoy blipping down, took it on track not too long ago, fucking amazing out there - definitely had some practice from some not so suitable road riding too 😂 Because the arrow can I’ve got is made stock it had to meet emissions & noise standards etc so I’m thinking of getting a new slip on.
@CyclesandThings
@CyclesandThings 4 жыл бұрын
I do mid-range pulls all the time on mine, with stock exhaust it sounds very beefy for a 765 but a nice slip-on would sound just fine. If you hammer hard on the brakes, they’re excellent, especially with ABS and dependent on which rider mode you have. Definitely not a beginner’s bike, but this bike is probably the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I like to refer to this bike as “Business in the front, party in the back.”
@Myself6M
@Myself6M 4 жыл бұрын
It is my first proper bike Yams! I absolutely love it to the point of obsession! It is a bit mad on track mode indeed, but on street mode it is absolutely fine (not too scary) as long as you have some throttle control (if you don't the front end can go a bit out of control). I am in Europe. I took my A licence test (for open class bikes) in June past summer and I bought it a moth after. Never scared me too much and, I wouldn't say that I ride like it a grandpa either! It is a very well behaved bike and it will do what you ask it to, as long as you are sensible and you ask it to do reasonable things that reflect your skill level!

I own a Street Triple, this exact model in particular, and it's the best city bike by miles In a 1000 or more it's too much for the road and often way too stiff Street Triple R is light and nimble, not too many mods to kill yourself doing either. I installed a Two Brothers to lose 15lbs and not pay 700+ on what would be mild performance increases. Install a small visor at he front, lose the tag holder for something attached to the tail, new slip on, and keep the Rosso 3's

I had a new 2014 street triple r 675. Didn’t like the high gearing in first gear, improved after adding teeth to rear sprocket and removing a couple of teeth to front sprocket. Handled so good and sounded great with a ScProject full exhaust. But ultimately went back to FZ-09 because I loved the engine so much.

dbw throttle feel, at least in the auto racing world, can be tuned by changing return spring firmness. The delay most people assume modern dbw has is non-existent; the real issue is the throttle hand/foot feel, and effort, associated with a throttle's movement resistance through its travel range. Most people have been "trained" on more firmly sprung cable throttles than what most oem dbw's use, as the springs are no longer needed to help close the butterfly in addition to returning the grip/pedal. The best feeling oem dbw sensors are external units, mounted away from the grip or pedal, and driven via cable. These external ones are also more able to be modded for a heavier spring. The weakest soggiest ones are where the sensor and spring are housed within the pedal or grip.

From first feel out of 5bikes at the Honda day and Kawa z750 for a long ride this was the best. Judging from 5min with one. First stoppie was an accident second wasn't. @ryanoliver9131 4 жыл бұрын
But if you have to start on 150cc the street triple wouldn’t be a beginner bike would it. I mean you would have other bikes before it. Let’s not act like other countries don’t have bike accidents they might have fewer but it still happens. Nothing wrong with smaller bikes but some don’t want to have to keep buying new bikes to upgrade. Most aren’t going to keep even a 400 for more than a year.

I do believe there is high value in keeping a product as it is and appreciate it as it comes, but I respect the desire to modify and personalize a motorcycle. Got a 2019 MT-09 myself and would trade it for the MT-09 SP... Triumph seems more of hype than reliability and value compared to Yamaha...

Hype? MT-09 is an amazing bike for sure but no where near street triple level as far as performance. Power wise the MT-09 wins but everything else triumph all the way. The sp version might fix that though but I don’t think we are getting it in the US.

Wait... why is it every time I see this bike there is a different dash? Some I see have the one with the analogue dial on the right and a crappy LCD screen. Then others have this TFT display... I'm looking at getting this bike, specifically the 2020 Street Triple R, does it come with the TFT one or the older one? Or is this an RS model and the title is just wrong?
@Gunne.r

For the 2020 they backed out on the TFT for the R, only the 2019 R and RS have TFT but the RS is upgraded with a lap timer and some other stuff. The 2019 S has the analog dial and LCD and the 2020+ S and R both have the analog dial and lcd and the RS has the TFT display. Confused yet?

I bought the low version. I’m 5’4” and can get balls of my feet on both sides down comfortably. Plus it’s really light so no issue backing it up. If I wore boots I would flat foot for sure.

*sigh* I was shopping for a MT-09 and totally sold on it till watching all your videos on this bike. Especially after hearing you bash on the MT-09 here in comparison to the street triple BUT I can easily afford an MT-09 and I most definitely can NOT afford one of these. I get that they're in the same class but price should definitely be mentioned when comparing them so people understand, "Yeah, the street triple is a better bike than the MT-09 but it's also *thousands* more dollars so..." Guess I'll go back to my fat ugly girlfriend of an MT-09 and just appreciate that I have someone to love me.

Marik , after test-riding both I say STriple hands down. Both great bikes and fun to ride, but due to the KTM’s riding position you don’t feel in full control of the bike as you do on the STriple, also the throttle response is so much better on the Triumph... Test them both

If it has rider modes, what's to keep a beginner from running it in Rain Mode to max out the assistance and detuned the power curve until they're comfortable? Also: if the Brembos on the S3-R are anything like the brakes on the Jags and Land Rovers that I fix for a living, then 1. They'll improve noticeably after about 60 miles, after they've completed a few heat cycles as a bedding-in process. And 2. They'll need a good warm-up to really show their action.

@@JCook-dx5pf yeah its just that some people cant be trusted with that power. Especially in curvy terrain. It sure is easier to take a curve slow if you don't have an option. I had none. At the time I had to ride 34hp limited. 2years.
