I have a 2023 GSXS750 and honestly all I would want from the 8R is updated dash and fairings. The 750 seating position is good for long rides, 100hp and actually bangs twisties really well. If it had a real fairing kit on it and an updated display and lights, it would make the best inline 4 street bike. It’s still very capable but it’s a little sad that they neglected giving it the 8S-8R treatment. It was 90% of the way there and they just said “No”
@yammienoob6 ай бұрын
I mentioned this in the video. Suzuki should have slapped fairings on the 750, updated slightly, made it meet emissions, competed against the CBR650R and called it a day.

I totally agree with the full fairing GSX-S750 comment. That’s exactly what I was thinking while looking at the 8R and the GSX-S1000 at the dealer last week. I was wondering why Suzuki just didn’t take the 750, which they stopped making and add a fairing and clips like the 8R. The platforms ride very similar and it would have had an inline 4. In fact, I’m still considering getting the S1000 and doing a conversion, (don’t really want a GSXR 1k at this time). Insightful comment Yam.

Been riding since I was 7. Rode motocross in my teens and took my motorcycle street test on a 1992 Yamaha fj1200. Have owned 98 katana 600, 01 gsxr 600, 04 gsxr 750, 06 HD dyna, and 08 gsxr-1000. Destroyed my ankle in 17 and haven’t ridden since. Got a full ankle reconstruction last year and I wanna start riding again. I’m 46 years old and am torn between a 21 gsx-750 and the 24 gsx-8r. I’ve ridden both but cant make up my mind. I like the look of the full fairing on the 8r and the ride position but the sound of the 750’s I4 and power just warms my cockles. Anybody wanna weigh in here?
@SteveSteeleSoundSymphony2 ай бұрын
Well, I like them both too. I almost bought a 2022 S750. I think since they cancelled that bike, that might help you make your decision. It’s a tough call. Personally I’ll take the torque over HP in the city and the bolted on “clip ons” are just right, imo. I really like them. It’s a tough call for sure. I wish the 8R had more power, but everything else about the 8R is a winner, imo. They’re both great looking and comfortable bikes. I think it comes down to the engine. What do you want? The fast revs of an inline 4, or the torque of a twin? Which engine do you crave? That would be my deciding factor.
@erichewitt890Ай бұрын
As cool as a parallel twin can be, especially when respecting it for what it is, it will always fall short of an inline 4 after owning both. I bought an R7 in 2022, purely for the beautiful aesthetics of the world gp edition and constantly tried to convince myself I liked it but I was just too underwhelmed with the sound and mediocre power output compared to other bikes I’ve owned.

I told the salesman I like the SV650's, especially the riding position, but if only it looked like the 8S, because that's a bit of me... It was obvious from his facial expression that he agreed, the 8S is a little busy looking, but lined up next to all the other bikes the 8S stands out, and in my opinion is the best looking bike Suzuki has right now... I just wish there was a 4S, because with the license rules, I can ride a bike up to 660cc and 47hp. I can't ride a GSX250 because they are physically too small, and I can't move my feet in that position, but a bike the size of an 8S or 8R with a 400cc engine, and the looks of either, People like me who are over 6 foot would flock to them like seagulls to a bag of cheetos

Yam, I am considering this bike versus the ZX four RR 40th anniversary edition. Can you nudge me in the right direction for a daily bike?
@skylarkesselring60755 ай бұрын
The zx4rr requires you to rev the hell out of it to get much speed going. So you'll be shifting a lot and revving it out. The 8r would probably be better for daily use as you won't need to shift so much and it'll probably be more comfortable seating position. Just my thoughts. The zx4rr is best for a track bike. Also if you're American you're gonna get the restricted version which limits it's horsepower quite a lot.
@destroyrebuild34445 ай бұрын
I'm actually looking at the same dilemma lol. I'm a newer rider yammy will tell me to get the Ninja 400 all day and I get it. But I'm 41 former Marine and discipline I'm not out here popping wheelies and stunting to get ass. Through all of my research that 8R would definitely be The better overall bike all around. But if you got a specific hitch for that screamer of an inline four and you like doing the extra work of shifting to drop a gear and disappear lol then I hear the ZX4 RR is more rewarding. Also the AR is definitely better if you plan to have a backpack every once in awhile... These are some of the things I debate myself at the moment

pretty much the molested twin to the strom :P but a "sporty" bike with the strom engine, doesn't sound all that bad :D the strom is an amazing bike.

Pulled up next to one of these on my concours 14 the other day. He revd it up a bit while we were at the light under a bridge. Then I pinged my concours off the redline a few times. He knew instantly he was out powered😂 especially when I didn’t shift to 2nd till 70mph. The Concours is a sleeper. You wouldn’t think it’s 1000cc fast based on how big it is😈 4th does 160mph…

Jeez it's almost like it IS.... You are comparing a fat and ugly sports tourer with 150hp that weighs 690lbs to a sleek 400lbs sport bike dude.

You’re gonna have to give up the notion of a new 4 cylinder middleweight bike

I'd snatch one now if your thinking of wanting one. In the next year or so there won't be any. I'm thinking of snagging up a new gsxr750 soon. At least if I want one I'll have it and not miss out

I'm pretty sure you posted a premier saying "I bought an MT-09 SP" and later on deleted it. Either I'm high or I'm right.

He did about 2-3 weeks ago, and it was a 22 MT-09 SP.
