How would you increase or decrease a stitch I am making a sweater using triple crochet but I think this stitch would be warmer.

If you used a different color for the single crochet, would it show on both sides or just the 3D side?

Looking at it, if you wanna use 2 different colors, yes you will see the difference on both sides, but it wouldn't look bad.😊
