So if i understand everything correctly, if you're wiping memories and turning human instincts into cat instincts, and there is no magical backup mind for the listener, then theoretically, you have effectively killed the listeners mind and turned his body into a cat with a cats mind. Or, the listeners mind is eternally trapped within a cat while the cat is its own entity. It doesnt really matter if you turn him back into a human later cause then its going to be a human with the mind of a cat. Whatever happens next, the listener is no longer the person she loved. Just an orange cat. I dont think the witch knew what she was doing when she casted that spell, did she? I guess thats why "bimbo" is one of the tags.

At least in real world amnesia, loss of memory doesn't change personality and behavior, while physical damage in other parts of the brain can change those things. So I guess it depends on how skillful she is in moving stuff around in there, what the spell consists of, whether it just "blocks" memory or plucks it out entirely, whether there are physical changes to the brain's structure... it's interesting to think about, for sure! And down to interpretation, I think.
