Oh, thank you so much Yuen-Ming Wong! I'd not seen anything quite like this espousing Yang Ban Hou lineage before, so, - no reference.

Thank you for this info. I looked for the info about Li Wancheng and found that the lineage is: Yang Banhou -> Li Wancheng -> Lin Jinsheng -> Jia Anshu.

Do you know where could I find other dvds or vcds with Jia Anshu ?

Love this form! Excellent fighting applications throughout. I don't mind that it does not have the same quality as this mans teacher, whom I believe is Kou Gui Jiang. It looks like an excellent physical workout that can be refined over time to a very high Internal level. But I like the physicality displayed here. In TCC, it's especially refreshing.

Strange comment if you have knowledge of what an internal martial art is - or their reputation. The reason Taijiquan became famous despite its having become a "new age" practice in modern times - Yang Luchan used this art to defeat virtually every great master in Beijing in his lifetime. One could say, "what a great man!" and give all the credit to him, but actually it was the substance of a very different approach to combat that made the internal arts famous. The only other master was Donhaichuan and there were no witnesses to the contest between Yang and Dong and the two emerged friends with both arts being acknowledged as "internal" and having special characteristics. All martial arts have _useful_ techniques, but the internal arts have very special training and methods that run quite counter to any external martial art. Thus, impossible claims from a guy who could not possibly have any relationship to Yang Banhou's teaching is simply fraudulent. And, as with 99.9 percent of those martial arts calling themselves "combat Taiijiquan" - in truth these typically show very useful techniques, having nothing to do with actual original Taijiquan. The number of lineages of that original system are tiny. and thus lineage is important if one cares about the great methods of original Taijiquan. But, as my teacher says, if, as a novice one looks at a practitioner and says, "That makes a lot of sense" - it means the observer has no knowledge at all of internal martial arts - which typically require a 10-year minimum to have a basic understanding to determine "what makes sense" and what does not.

Well said. I hate to read about the countless number of so called Tai Chi masters who claimed to be from the Yang Luchan lineage one way or other, either through his sons, or his sons' disciples, or disciples' disciples... These days, there are a lot of frauds. Many people are just exploiting other peoples' ignorance to make money, and not teaching the real deal. And the real deal is that all Tai Chi were created to FIGHT. But I noticed a lot of people love Tai Chi because someone performs it like a beautiful dance with Tai Chi postures, and then there are those who made Tai Chi into an acrobatic or athletic art with fanciful jumps and twists of the body which are for all intents and purposes USELESS in self defence and attack, other than being nice to watch. I have no problems with people who are honest to say that they teach Tai Chi to people who want to derive health benefits from the exercise, but they don't know how to use the movements to fight.

Looks plausible, some very low stooping, why? any chance of the showing the applications??? to make clear what it is . the wu family learned from yang ban ho. a lot of the moves here are similar to the wu fast set. can be from any player there.

Leg strength exercise. Not all techniques in forms is combat many are exercises for strength, flexible and balance or a form of moving meditating.

Truly odd. As a multi-year disciple of a lineage from Yang Luchan - I am appalled to find how easily fooled people are. Amazing to consider. Virtually every reference you can find on Yang Banhou will tell you that he was incredibly "conservative" (meaning, very stingy with his knowledge). He had only 2 students. He was well-known for hurting those who studied with him and developed a bad reputation because of it. The probability that any of these forms have anything to do - in reality - with Yang Banhou is fundamentally zero.

If people want to practice an internal martial art of this flavor they are probably better of with Xing Yi anyway.

Especially if they want to never learn what "internal" actually means.

Agreed. This is not even tai ji quan.

Actually I agree and Dr Yang Jwing -Ming has the more authentic form than this stuff.

Was Yang Ban Hou a very miserable man compared to his brother?

Its said that he was very brutal and had only a view students because of that. But Yang Cheng Fu was also known to be very hard. He KOed his students in tui shou! Both only get little over 50y !
