Because of how the intro is, Monty was included in every single episode. (Move Onward, Not There Yet) I always find it funny imagining Weiss just singing a majority (or the entirety) of This Life is Mine because Jacques just sitting there and listening to it. The man so stressed about image, and his daughter sang that in front of the entirety of the Atlas upper class… Lusus Naturae is not technically about any of the canon show characters, it’s just used as a theme related to the grimm in the show. Also, a reminder, semblance is directly related to aura. A passive semblance like Qrow’s is no longer in effect if the person breaks their aura.

There's a theme you very likely know that shows up later that sounds like the tone & atmosphere of first part of Lusus Naturae but if you dont. It's the song when the Core of The Hound is revealed.

I just.... keep imagining Weiss singing "This Life is Mine" at the charity, and her dad being like "Huh. That song was well received. I wonder if it's about something. Oh well, so long as it raises money"

Let's just live is actually about Monty Oum it just happens to work for Pyrrah and Penny.

It's both. in unverse, it's Ruby about Penny and Pyrrha, In meta, it's about Monty. Jeff Williams revealed this in an interview once.

Jeff Williams wrote "Let's Just Live" as the alternate to "Shine", the image song for the V2 Beacon dance.

She also did the Intro/Title track for a video game called Omega Strikers. Song is called "Go Strike!" If your interested in looking it up here on youtube. Good game that doesn't get enough attention. But was super pumped when I first tried the game in the beta and heard her voice on the title track!

I'm pretty sure lusus naturae is actually from the game grimm eclipse

It is but they definitely re-use it's tune for lots of "big grimm" moments, going forward.

Gods, Let's just live still hurts, I never knew Monty personally, but it still hurt to know he passed so suddenly, the creator of a series I'd fallen in love with from the first trailer, when I heard about it I was afraid the series wouldn't survive, and I felt so bad for the people he knew, his brother, everyone he was friends with and worked with at RT, but he had a saying "keep moving forward" so they did, and their dedication has kept this show that I love going for nine volumes and counting, RIP Monty, we'll always keep moving forward

I met him briefly at a convention about a year before his passing. Awesome guy.

The albatross is a naval thing, killing an albatross is the unluckiest thing you can do on a boat

I totally agree with your take on how romance should be handled in stories like this. It can be there, but this is an action adventure essentially. Romance shouldnt overshadow that. Also, with main characters, in a story like this, romance should do something thematically for the character, or not be there at all.

Someone mentioned this about the albatross thing but I just wanted to expand--- yes, it's a naval thing, very bad luck to kill an albatross. At sea, an albatross can be seen as a sign of good luck or bad luck, but killing one will definitely bring bad luck. There's a story/poem called "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," in which a sailor kills one and brings bad luck on the entire crew, so they make him wear its body around his neck. I believe it's the origin of the saying "albatross around my neck," meaning that you're carrying a burden. Simplified outside the phrase, "albatross" is used as a metaphor for a psychological burden, which really suits the song's message.

Lusus Naturae was actually a song created for the fan-game turned official RT project RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. It plays during the credits, but when the volume 4 soundtrack came out, it was included with that. Despite being created for that game, its ideas have been long since integrated into the score for the show, featuring frequently in the Grimm leitmotif and generally being a big part of most "big" Grimm reveals in one way or another. It's not about Salem though, the "pov" of the singer is a guy from that game.

"Lusus Naturae" (Latin for "Freak of Nature") is the credits song from the video game RWBY: Grimm Eclipse, which was released alongside Volume 4. It's the theme for the Grimm in general. The song slightly spoils the game's story, but it's still worth playing.

Also any time you see Lamar Hall it's cause that song has him rapping in it, he does the rap in every RWBY song He raps in both Caffeine and I Burn! as well as other songs

Sad you did not mention This Life is Mine during the OST breakdown at the end of the video, but other than that, still a great video. Just a bit biased since it's my favorite, lol. Onward to Volume 5!

Whoever did the video for Armed and Ready, they're plenty good for reactions. They only made two minor errors, a bad punctuation mark and a dropped filler word.
