White Emperor City (Baidi City, Baidicheng, Baidi Temple) - temple complex known also as the "City of Poems" as some famous poets lived and wrote about it. The area is known with history going back almost 2,000 years, the temple has outstanding cultural and historical relics and offers view of the Qutang gorge;
Goddess Stream - beautiful narrow tributary flowing into the Yangtze river right across from the Goddess peak;
Three Gorges Dam - the largest hydroelectric dam in the world, 1.4 miles wide (2.3 kilometers) and 630 feet (192 meters) high.

About three years ago I was flying from Incheon, Korea to Chongqing on a business. There were heavy fog around Chongqing airport so our female pilot (Asiana Airline) comes onto intercom and says " ladies and gentlemen we will be circling around Chongqing due to heavy fog, please enjoy the scenery below you" The plane circled around for about 45 mins. I saw what I believe to be the most spectacular scenery in life circling top of yangtze river and uninhabited area around it. I was dreaming of and thinking of martial art stories written by 金庸 - 査良鏞 . I was a lead actor in one of his story flying around woods. China is a beautiful country. I recommend anyone who likes to travel to discover remote China. We Koreans always say 'people who can take time to enjoy tea and likes to recite poems can't be bad'

that is strange, usually fog is no big deal, since landing is 90% automatic process. The only reason I remember the landing delay was a heavy traffic in Barajas, Madrid. we also circled for 30 min until the window opened.

Besides, the cultural revolution wasn’t meant to destroy all culture, just the culture and traditions that Mao thought were in the way of modernising China the way he wanted it

In my opinion, the Three Gorges bears one of the most profound memories of China in the past 100 years. The daydreams of building a dam from the Sun Wen period. The final defense of the National Government during the WWII. The madness of the collectivist economy period. The dream come true of Three Gorges dam construction in modern times. Migration of the Three Gorges peoples, and they make sacrifices for the good of country.
