As a Dodger fan I could not stand Dave Roberts as a rookie manager….questionable pitching decisions cost us many games. After 8 seasons with Roberts I can finally see he is a different manager for the better. I’ve watched him this post season pull all the right moves which makes me believe he is a big part of the Dodgers success this season. I’m in agreement with you the Yankees should be ahead with a one game lead in the WS. Cole was magnificent, let him battle and win the game! Also so unfair to bring in a guy who had not pitched the entire postseason into one of the most high leveraged situations one could be in… not fair to that player.. Boone will wear this one for a long time!
@Silence_Duder_GooderАй бұрын
Dave _finally_ stopped using that stupid book as a religious text! Sure, he still uses it, as he did last night, when he maybe shouldn't have, but it worked out, so I'm good with it. But I thought he was rather quick in pulling Flaherty from the game over a great pitch that was only hit because a great hitter was able to reach down and get it. Writing all of that, he's used more of his gut and eyes than he has in the past, and that's how baseball should be managed. I'm obviously happy, but by the end of tonight, I could feel the opposite of what I feel right now. The Yankees are going to be pissed off, I'm betting. I wouldn't doubt if we lost in a blowout. But even if that happens, I'm good with it because we did the same thing in both previous series' and we still were able to pull out the series victory. GO BLUE!

@@Silence_Duder_GooderFlaherty threw 90 pitches, and he’s likely going to pitch on short rest. It was a good pull. Nestor has no business on this roster. I was dreading seeing Cortes in a World Series after I saw his name on the roster. He's hurt, out of shape, and hasn't performed well consistently since 2022. What the hell is Tom Hill doing out there, Boone? I would have rather seen Mayza even before Cortes in that situation. Put Nestor on the DL and bring in Poteet or Berti. That was Gleyber being Gleyber with that sloppy play letting Ohtani get to 3rd with less than 2 outs. Next season, Gleyber should go to a team where they don't care about winning. He will fit in. Verdugo's error hurt a lot even with the nice plays he made. Clay Holmes should not be in that position. I'd rather see Cole go batter to batter in that situation, then go to Cousins or Kahnle. Holmes shouldn't come in with runners on. He really shouldn't be in a close game this series. Some terrible but not surprising decisions by Boone, sloppy defense, and lack of timely hitting.

1. Yankees were not disciplined against Flattery at the plate. 2. The Yankees gave away game 1 with poor infield and outfield play. That triple off the right field wall should have been a single. Soto held the ball rather than immediately throw the ball in. Torres didn’t keep the ball in front of him keeping the ball in front of him. It was a comedy of errors on a single play. 3. Then last night happened. I have the texts I sent that prove it. I said when he went to bring in Nestor, "He hasn't pitched in forever. I prefer Tim Hill here." But I didn't get all up in arms, because I figure Boone must know something I don't. Lo and behold Nestor grooves a fastball and Ohtani missed going yard with it. Not so with his second pitch of the night. In the postgame Boone had no good explanation for his baffling decision. None. It was idiotic.

They are going to lose this series. If I were a Yankee fan I'd be praying to the baseball God's to deliver Terry Francona from retirement to manage this team. Tito would be the perfect fit for a star studed big market ball club full of big egos and a TON of outside media pressure. Tito managed 2 WS winners in Boston then went to a small market baseball he'll in Cleveland and managed a last place team into an annual contender almost every season. That is a manager who almost always got more out of his rosters than expected or even projected by analytics. Aaron Boone is the exact opposite. The Yankees give Aaron Boone the best of almost everything on the field, and some, and yet Boones teams always fall short of expectations every single year. This Yankees roster IS good enough to win this series but it's not going to happen with Aaron Boone running the show.

Before the series began, I wrote that game seven should be a bases loaded situation, with two outs, a full count to Ohtani, then a grand slam to win the game 8-7. Yeah, it would be a white-knuckle affair, as the Dodgers would have to be down 7-4 at the time. And what happens in game one? A grand slam to walk it off? By the way, when Kirk Gibson hit his bomb and crossed the plate, the clock read 8:37 PM local time, and last night, as Freddie headed towards first base, the clock read 8:37 PM local time.
