He's worth it bro. A guy this young putting up numbers in the npb that ohtani couldnt even get close to is ridiculous. Put him in the 2 hole in front of judge and he'll get the same protection soto did. He's a tough at bat but he's struggled lately due to the amount of pressure he has due to his legendary 2022 season. Lets not forget he goes against japan pitchers, the pitchers who beat us in the wbc. I've watched his highlights and he should easily get back to normal soon and once he is he'll be a superstar. Ohtani even stated murakami was a better hitter than he was in 2023.

i think Rice showed promise when he was up last season. i'd love for him to get another shot at some point. but even if Rice doesn't get better, the idea of the Yankees signing Tucker next offseason and moving Bellinger to 1st isn't bad either

@ I don’t think the Dodgers are getting Murikami, but he did say that he prefers a west coast team, even though he did mention the Yankees by name as well. I’m just tired of getting my hopes up for Japanese players recently, they seem to all want to go to the West Coast except for Masataka Yoshida with the Red Sox. Murikami’s also regressed the last 2 seasons, we’ll see how he does this upcoming season though

This matches up with what we know about the team's pursuit of Kyle Tucker. If Murakami is being slotted at First then the Yankees must think they will not have a good shot at Vlad Jr. next year. They'll be focusing their big 2025 FA signing on Kyle Tucker.

I don’t really see him doing well when he comes over unless he fixes his swing dramatically. He obviously has the power but with those K rates in Japan… it doesn’t bode well when he comes over. I mean guys in the stats chasing more velo, spin, vertical ride on the 4 seam, it’s a horrible combo. Hard pass on him tbh

Ultimately, Murakami needs to make adjustments because he is being pitched differently than he was when he was raking. Slot him in this lineup around, with this stadium, he will perform better than Gallo. Dont think he will be the next Shohei offensively, but he is not a dud

We should stay out of the Japanese market all together, these players are proving that they either want to play together and specifically on the Dodgers and if that’s not an option for them then they will pivot to the Giants or Padres to stay on the west coast as it’s an easier trip home in the offseason. The more we stay in on these Japanese players that we have no chance to get then that will not allow us to be in on American or Latino players early in free agency and in the trade market. But if we don’t engage in the available Japanese players then we will be able to be at the table and making serious runs at the best players available that aren’t Japanese. We shouldn’t even take meetings with them, it’s a waste of time
