Hal has stated that he wants to lower payroll and adding Spencer Jones and Jasson Dominguez to the major league team would lengthen the lineup from a top three of Volpe, Soto, and Judge into a possible six deep lineup of Volpe, Soto, Judge, Jomes, Dominguez, and Rice which would be a much longer and better lineup while at the same time lower payroll as Volpe, Jones, Dominguez, and Rice would be on low, pre-arbitration contracts.

Not wanting to trade Spencer Jones or Jasson Dominguez within the AL East is an absolute fair point made. I'd say no to that as well. I'd counter offer as fairly as possible but in all realities, if this ends up being what ends up getting the deal done, I'm passing altogether.

Why would they fire a GM for trading a player who they may not want to retain after this year? Teams don't act like fans, they don't not trade because they worry about helping a rival during a season where only one of them is contending. If they could trade Vladdy and get a real haul in return, that's the smart move.

Why would you need to resign him? This is a win now move, in a win now season. What Vladdy does in free agency is 100% irrelevant to whether the team should try to get him for the stretch and playoffs. The only question that needs to be asked is, would he make the team better right now. And that decidedly gets a yes in response. The fact he's a free agent next year just lowers the price I'd be willing to pay. I would trade any minor league pitcher we currently have and any position players outside of a handful like Dominguez, Jones, Arias, Lombard. But Peraza, Warren plus another lower tier guy, I would trade all day for Vlad. I would throw in Rice too.

He's not and as much as I like him dude has 6 HR's this year and is hitting ,242. I think he might be a tad over hyped but that's just my opinion. Any trade this team makes to any team the first name that pops up is going to be Spencer Jones so gonna have to learn to part with him. Again, I like him and def would like to see him do well but his below average stats and the Yankees reluctance to promote guys I say deal him wherever for guys that can produce now.

I always felt Spencer Jones should of switched position first base . Just to get a year and a half playing the position. But thats neither here or there. Trading for Vlady for half a year won't help the underlined problem. Torres year so far is terrible. Trevino is having problems throwing runners out. Stanton is hurt. Holmes is a set-up pitcher posing as a closer. And Rizzo is having the worst year of his career. Throw all that in with the fact the team dropped three series in a row. And still in 1st place is a miracle in itself. What could help? Mason Miller is a good start or Ryan Helsley

I've seen Spencer play 5 times so far this year. He's inconsistent at bat but he is the best defensive player in the Yankees organization. Much better than Jasson. Jason is the better hitter but has the injury problems. Jones is twice as good in center field compared to Jasson.
