Not a single sports broadcaster or analyst got the analysis right on the Royals. If they would have looked at their August record they would have seen the Royals had almost tied eventual Central champion Cleveland and were on track to pass them up. What happened? Vinny Pasquantino, the Royals RBI leader, suffered a broken thumb at Houston on August 29th. Yes they mentioned it but failed to draw a comparison with Cleveland leading Orioles fans to believe their team was facing a weak 86 game winner.

Hope I’m wrong, but if there was ever a Yankee team vulnerable to rust from inactivity, it’s this one. Their hitters are spotty and the bullpen is still shaky. 1B defense is also a concern. Somebody will have to step up other than Judge or Soto. They will not see a lot of pitches. I’m old, so a Yanks-Royals series reminds me of my childhood. The 76-78, 80 ALCS’s were intense.

Reagans and Lugo went already. We’d face Wacha and probably Singer in the first two games, so we have a chance to blow it open 2-0 in the first two games. But they’re still strong pitchers so we’ll see

This has the potential to be an electric series if the Royals bullpen is actually good now and not just hot. Yankees are vulnerable to small ball, and their offense tends to die at the worst times (down by 3+ runs). The Yankees need a couple guys other than Judge/Soto to hit, and they need to run into some homers. The Astros and Orioles were utterly shut down, and the Yankees are going to have to learn from what they saw from the Royals/Tigers.

Yanks win the series if Boone keeps Stroman as far away from the field as possible, they dont turn into pumpkins if Soto and Judge gold cold, and they score runs with risp. Even if the Royals are able to keep the score low and Yankees are able to reciprocate (which based on the WC wont be hard to do) the Yanks will be in the better position because if any team can break a low scoring game its the Yankees.

I know bigger people usually struggle with the inside part of the plate since you know, their phat arms and belly prevents them from shrinking into that swing.
