exactly right ..... now we have a dominant no.2 or potential ace in max fried if gerrit cole will pitch like kershaw & keep screwin' up ..... we now have a a dominant closer in devin williams & we can move luke weaver as a set up guy ..... a combo of weaver & williams is better than the combo clay holmes & luke weaver ..... goldsmith is an update over the injury prone rizzo ..... although,not a better hitter than juan soto,but cody bellinger is a better defender than him & judge can now go back to right field which suited him better .....

Got a decent rental for a year for Goldy who is a vet presence who can potentially rake in Yankee stadium, I wouldn’t go for a 2nd baseman tho. I think you move Jazz to 2nd and grab either Bregman or Arenado

I never understood the hate Trevy got. Frankly, I stopped watching a couple guys who went over the top with it. He always was willing to do what the team needed. He was a great teammate, and clearly loved being a Yankee. Had multiple big moments,and was one of the best overall defensive players, let alone catchers, in baseball. I wish nothing but good things for him in the future.

as much as its nice to have guys that love and appreciate being yankees, trevino hurt us so much last year, free stolen base practically whenever a team wanted, no matter how good he was at other defensive aspects of catching the noodle arm offset it all, not to mention he became a massive liability at the plate as well

These are great moves to start the season. Don't forget there's always a chance to make a deal for a latter-day David Justice around mid-season. Now they just have to stay healthy. There were rampaging last season until Stanton got hurt and then . . . a .500 team the rest of the way. Stanton comes back and he and Soto carry them to the World Series. Just. Stay. Healthy.

One year gap being filled by a perennial All-Star first baseman. Bat may not be what it was a few years back, but defense at first base wins games. As far as the bat goes, being surrounded by high-quality bats allows him to see better pitches. Quality veteran leadership brings value, too.

Listen don't count out Goldschmidt. What if he goes 25 homers 90 rbi 270 avg. I was disappointed it wasn't two years
@ramongonzalez665318 күн бұрын
I won't gripe if Yankees got Arenado, but I would rather have an athletic contact hitter with fantastic defense like Hyeseong Kim. Kim won't be available for the first couple of month due to a surgery he had, but he has NO draft pick attached to him and should be relatively cheap anywhere under 10 mil a year. Kim would solve Yankees leadoff hitter once and for all. Also Yankees need to continue to find Stroman a new home and find another lefty for the bullpen!
@michaelmaniloff929717 күн бұрын
Kim is a lefty, too.

If you know you know! I’m an old fart and have seen deals like this over the years. He knows he is up there in age but still has a great glove! New York being New York can become his best friend if he comes out hot! He knows he is in a contender now and man does that change a player! I think it’s a smart and reasonable move!

Holmes had a low 3s ERA. People need to stop pretending he completely fell off a cliff. Also, it was Blake who turned him from a bad starting pitcher to one of the best closers in baseball for a couple years.

Get rid of any idea of getting Tucker. Dude was a hell no this year. Wasn’t worth trading elite prospects for a guy on the down slide of his career. We should have gotten Walker. Bat will be good for 2-3 more years. Defense better than Goldy’s

I was calling this signing as a must for a long time, I like the player and KNEW he would be signing for 1 year, I thought $17M, so we got discount. Walker is not a needle mover and being trapped with his contract in his 30's would have hurt us for years. This was boot the decision for the longer term contract to next year when there are better FA's . BTW, we will get a 3B, not a 2B this year. Age of players, length of contract, Penalties to International Pool and draft picks made Bregman/Walker restrictive

Adore the Trevy trade - get a guy subscribing to the Matt Blake School of Pitching and see ya later. I feel like this is the most overhyped offseason in Yankee history. I don't hate the offseason, but to me it just seems like other Yankee fans are overcompensating for Soto leaving for the Mets. I think there would be a lot more scrutiny if he went anywhere else other than to the Mets or Red Sox.

Only thing bad about him is his age. The man can still pick it. Doesn't strike out a lot. Obp is good. And i think a change will be good for him.
