My first experience with Capture One / iPad was just a while ago during a commercial shoot. The client had an iPad with Capture One and he was walking around with the iPad basically watching my pics come in. The unnerving thing is that he would occasionally shoot a frame from his iPad while people were dressing the set. Every time he did this I was startled. But much, much better than people crowding around my monitor on set.

Great video Yankov. I love the thought of being able to take an iPad into the field versus a Macbook, yet it appears that I will need to wait until more features are available...namely, Liveview. The only thing I really wish CO would do is allow the option to capture to the camera memory card or the device storage. Most of the time, I would prefer the camera storage. Keep up the great work.

Cascable already has these features and seems to work really well! It’s also fairly inexpensive. I picked up an iPad Air this week and just did my first paid headshot session tethering to the iPad using Cascable and it worked extremely well. I’m still figuring it out, but it doesn’t seem to have the ability to apply adjustment on import or to rename files on import, but that might just be my own inexperience with the app so far.

@@khalstead3 I'm using Cascable also. Though not ready for primetime either, it keeps the files in my camera, yes, all 256GB of it. With Capture One, I have to buy another Ipad with 512GB HD to store the files and then upload it to a memory card, such bullshit.

Thanks for the informative video! The tethered speed over USB C is decent, but over WIFI is just ridiculously slow. Incredible that they send rockets to Mars and still can't get this done... fast WI-FI connections between camera and laptop are as slow as 10 years ago... 😖
@YankovWong

Yea, what a shame. But I think that has a lok to do with the camera and network environment too.
@neglectedloves
@neglectedloves Жыл бұрын
@@YankovWong true! But even if you set up a direct "ad hoc" WI-FI connection (not over a network), it's unbearably slow. If it only was 5-10 gbit/s we could actually use it. But looking at your video the RAW file to show up was like 20-30 seconds... There's the Capture Pilot app which mirrors your desktop C1 app but it's actually too slow , even though it just shows just a low resolution image. I remember talking to PhaseOne in 2005 asking for a Wi-Fi connection. They said there working on it and are almost ready. Never heard back again from them 😂 I don't know where the problem is, missing APIs, slow ports at the camera and/or slow Wi-Fi modules... it seems to be beyond rocket science 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@rifz42 exactly! Since C1 renders JPGs in the desktop version as well and according to your settings. Enough to check focus and composition. On my MacBookPro with M1 and my R5 full RAW files it's almost instantly over USB-C, so there should be possibilities for the iPad version... But who am I to know 🤷🏻‍♂

I think they have the engine there, yes. Better to handle Fuji RAF files, for example, than Lr. However, the app still needs a lot of optimization it keeps crashing all the time. Cloud transfer yet is primitive compared with Adobe's. I tried to import to a session yesterday and it messed up with the file names... I did import physically the Ipad's catalogue from Files via an SSD and it worked maintaining the album names I determined but IN catalog, duplicating the files into my Mac. Levels, Masks, Curves, Full Cloud Sync, a more comprehensive metadata system (I can't know the lens and camera or focal length I was in a zoom lens for ex), etc... are still missing. Still, a long way to go, but, well, happy to have an alternative for RAW demosaic better than LR in my case as a Fuji shooter. Yet didn't try the tethering system that looks nice.

I need to use a tethering system for a commercial shoot this week and I have never done it before! I have a Sony A7Riii and it wont connect to the capture one app with a cable. I'm just using an apple cable though. Does it need to be a specific tethering cable for it to work? I am desperate to figure this out as soon as possible so I can do this properly for my shoot! I've even tried connecting it to Capture One on my computer with a different cable and that didn't connect either.
