My mother’s family are related to George Lacey’s family including his siblings whose brother John-Patrick is my mother’s father. We visit the island every two years and it’s fascinating to learn about their pasts.

I remeber accompanying my father as teenager as he went round the coast of Clare & Connemara buying lobster. Still a v vivid memory. I would record the weights on a individulal tockets for the fishermen. I remember being in Doolin on a v sunny day & the men of Aran coming in . They were exported to France & Holland. We called it the Continent that time. Not Europe . He died in 1970. So I find this v interesting but also nostalgic.
