This is just brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Very interesting, intriguing, special & very educational. The lady who rethatched the roof, just Wow!!! A very special skill & she did an amazing & beautiful job. My Irish Uncle was telling me recently, in "his exact words", "that more Thatching jobs are urgently sought after these days, so I do hope that more young Irish men & women, will be trained by the very few, to give the job a try & all the while, maintaining a very important & beautiful part of Ireland's culture/heritage. Otherwise, the very sad, but slow disappearance of the traditional thatched cottages as we all know them to be, may eventually become just a distant memory. Many of the older generation have passed away, so more young men/women are now required, to take on the job that our ancestors did every day. It's an expensive upkeep & insurance companies won't cover thatched roofs, with the exception of only 1 or 2 companies abound". As the daughter of Irish/Scottish parents, this girl's always loved her family's ancestral homeland & this viewing has truly made my day! I once lived/worked in India, but with now living in Australia, this influenced me to start learning hard, the Irish language & I do so, because of my own ancestral ties to Éire & Because I wish, to be one of the smaller percentage of people globally, who wishes to maintain/preserve such a beautiful & ancient language. To maintain one's early traditions & culture is very important, because if ever lost, it's forever gone. Later this year, we'll be heading to Éire, then onto the Aran Islands, as I've longed to visit the Aran Islands for over 20 yrs now. Finally, my dream will come to fruition. go raibh maith agat as a roinnt.❤

Very Nice and it still shows the stupid rules imposed on Natives by people in Brussels, The EU should not be allowed to dictate to local Traditions.
@luissantiago84463 жыл бұрын
The EU is antithetical to tradition, local or otherwise. People in this postmodern world need to realize that rejecting tradition, good traditions, is rejection of identity, purpose and reason for being.

@@lluiscornet9020 Nemo has a fairly good app. When I initially downloaded Memrise, Irish was not an option but somehow it showed up when I tried once again to find it. it is linked to Duolingo but has many different native speakers saying the words. Also, I found an actual live class by going to www.daltaí.com.( only one teacher from Spain, but apparently does Skype) I wish I had given as much effort to learning Spanish as I have lately with learning Irish. I kept wanting to give up, too but now I am in it too much.
