I don't always have the pleasure to be located close to my removals. Sometimes I have to drive a ways to get to them but I know the right questions to ask in gaining basic understanding of what I will have to deal with.
In this episode with Yappy Beeman, I travel across the state of Alabama to the Smith Lake community to remove bees from a lake house. The bees had been known to be there for about 5 months. With the time of year, I really expected a huge bee hive to remove. Once we get past June in Alabama, The bees have put up usually "gallons" of honey in their nests. I could only have expected to find just that.
Once I opened the void up, I realized that this wasn't the case. This could be from a much smaller starter colony in late spring and they just had a hard time getting going. But they still had to be removed. Once I got in the fun started. Right away I had 3 combs fall off the board and chances were the queen was on them. There was an opening right below where the comb had fell and I didn't want the queen to go in it. If she had, I would have probably lost her. But thankfully, you will see I caught her right away.
Special thanks to the homeowner for contacting me to remove their bee infestation and giving them a chance to continue beeing bees.....
