All my life I hated the thought that non-Muslims had to pay the Jizia- the protection tax. I thought it unfair. Today was the first time I heard it was not only less than zakat (which is only 2.5% itself) but it exempted non-Muslims from service in the army. This brought me to tears. This was not a burdensome tax at all. In fact it’s beyond fair. I hate that I didn’t know this. SubhanAllah

Our words are potent. What you say repeatedly to yourself is more compelling than what someone else tells you. This is why it’s almost impossible, to convince a devout praying Muslim, that Mohammed has flaws or that God’s nature isn’t necessarily constrained into a singular entity, or that Christians are not deceived, or that Jews are not cursed. What we repeatedly say to ourselves, regardless of its validity, becomes our truth and belief. Be careful what you recite. 🙏🏾

The hukum of praising a person in islam is “Harus” but with the condition that the praise is on the thing that is true and not a lie. Similarly, the praise should be in a state that does not bring fitnah to the person being praised and does not cause the person to feel ‘ujub (proud).
