@@lawrence1md so kinda cool, those were made about an hour from my house hahaha I would love a late model, with the enders speed shaver box and metal speed stripe down the center - and really pay homage to Matt Hilton who was a close friend. Buttttt the $$$ and rarity alone make that stupid journey futile as hell.. I was out bid BY 150$ for a green one. And I've never seen a yellow for sale personally..i hear those are held only by the Enders elite. Absolutely insanity hahaha hopefully you have better luck than myself.

Great comparison of the two razors. I was really surprised at how much I really like the Henson razor. I got the +++ and it is a fantastic shave every time. I like that this is SS and would love a Henson +++ in SS. Great vide as always.

This is close, the Tile post fix, is actually quite formidable and truly a great shave. It's hard when you compare the two, as the +++ Henson is just such a good razor..it'd be like putting two high level athletes in a competition..sure one may be better but the race is close enough to appreciate both. Oh this was merely a side by side comparison. I REALLY want to do the battle now where we go over both sides. I have a hard time with this razor, as good as it was for me, as there are some obvious - fairly large - issues with it hahaha Trying to be honest and upfront here with everyone, I think some will lover this thing to death while others may find the downfalls to be a deal breaker. I think this just goes to show that knocking off what Henson did is a DIFFICULT task.

Definitely shaved better than I had anticipated. I went into that shave fully expecting to bleed a bunch, but other than some chatter and blade flexion, it did shave pretty good. I doubt I would pick it up over some of the other razors I've had a privilege of using... But that doesn't make it a bad choice either. Mike you're the man!!! Always good to see you!! Btw last night, soaked some menthol crystals and had a sauna at my house!! Excellent!!

HEYYYYY MY MAN!!! WHAT IS UP!!!! Welcome to Subie Shave space haha I always try and be unbiased (as much as I can be, while still being human haha) and I can definitely see that Yaqi has some positives! Stainless is a huge win, and I think the razor can be used as is! Sure... Some take this as all out war - but I see it as a chance for Henson to see there is a market for stainless - and even learn a thing or two from their imitator. Competition breeds better products for all of us shaves and I'm 100% for it. Is it as smooth as a Henson? Not for me, but it was still really darn good for the price. I definitely need some more uses with this Razor, and hoping everyone here finds them useful. Seriously - thank you so so much for coming all the way from Reddit and watching my review!

That was great! So my guess is that Yaqi is just a small independent company and they just contract out manufacture of their different products. There are so many large centers of manufacturing and you can shop around and do small runs in different geographical locations. At some point when they get large enough, they'll tighten up QC and bump up the prices some. This is super common in specialty markets. I think the roughness is probably just blade chatter because of the way the blade is being held. I don't have a Henson, but I've seen plenty of pics and that blade is torqued and tight out close to the edge-no chatter. It's funny that sometimes when you change designs for expedience, you stumble on something good. I had to do a design change to my adapter, which I tried first on my personal one. It made them a little easier to make, but some people like the longer tabs. If only I had a die and a 10 press like they did originally, I'd probably just make low run blades. The adapter works just fine, just not as easy as the original blades to load.

Great video Subie, I know you like to hack razors and that is great IMO. If you get a mild DE razor and want a little more aggression all I do is use a Kai SS blade because it is a little wider than a Gillette standard Astra SP by 9/1000 of a inch or 4.5/1000" per side and it sure nice improvement in efficentcy and blade exposure or blade feel. The Kai SS blade is superior to shimming hands down and have had well over 70 shaves with the Kai SS in my mild razors. Thanks for the hack on the de-splined Gem blades in the Oneblade Core. Have some great shaves!

I used them VERY early on and had some shaves that seemed rough if memory serves me right, but I would totally be down to try them again! 👍❤️ 70 shaves!! Man that's crazy!! I've examined mine closely, the blade exposure looks exactly the same on both sides.

Yes some are ok, and Yaqi has actually begun offering replacements for ones that are uneven 👍❤️ the one I used actually has since been replaced by Yaqi 👍

I have a Plastic version of this head, which I don't think is available anymore and it's definitely no Henson in construction, more of a look-a-like than a copy. It is far more efficient than my Henson Mild and not as smooth and the blade feels less "gripped" so I get more blade chatter, could try a Subbie stack might help. My experience with Yaqi razors is quality control is not that good and there's a bit of variation between razors. Yaqi make better brushes. Thanks for sharing your impressions on the razor. 👏😎👍

The Yaqi is definitely copy and they have positives and negatives. The 316 stainless is a welcome addition and the mirror polish makes it so the drag / suction feel of the razor now disappears. Polishing razor heads makes for a smoother shave all the way around, as we've both noticed. Like you said, the loose tolerances and uneven blade seating are negatives. In the video, I can readily see the sharper edges of your Henson on the cap and baseplate. I just wish Henson would round off some outside edges, and also maybe mirror polish the titanium as an option. That would make it luxuriously smoother by a mile. Good show otherwise. I'm looking forward to future contrast reviews.
