It’s good to see young people excited about politics. I really hope teachers are pushing more civic minded courses in school because back in the day, civics was a mandatory class and it really helped inform a lot of civil protests in the 60s and unfortunately it’s not taught very much anymore.

Can anyone tell me why Americans aren't automatically registered as voters when they turn 18?
@ReneKnights7 жыл бұрын
SuperSubzero64 We love voter suppression here in the U.S.
@allisondoak94257 жыл бұрын
SuperSubzero64 I think there’s multiple options that you need to supply. Like in my country we have to enrol to vote in the correct electorate, supply our address and contact information, and there’s an alternative roll for those who qualify to choose if they wish. I think in America you can register a party in order to vote in the primaries as well as the basic where you live and vote stuff.
@Tocsin-Bang7 жыл бұрын
Quite possibly because people move around. You need to register in the appropriate district. Same is true in most countries, including the UK.
@justsomeonesfriend7 жыл бұрын
In my country you register once (your parents do it when you are born) in the Registry of the place you live in so that the government knows where to send you official mail and stuff. And when you turn 18 they automatically register you to vote and send you a letter informing you when, where and how to vote (this happens every time there is an election). You can change the address if you move or move and not change it but then the electorate you have to vote in won't change. I think it's a great system if you believe in democracy.
@SuperSubzero647 жыл бұрын
It is very strange that the great country of democracy does not manage to register its inhabitants as voters. The Americans only have an I. D. card when they apply for it, right?
@keyowilson56957 жыл бұрын
She was born in the year 2000. I can't believe it...there will come a day when people like me will become a walking museum for being born in the year 19-something. Anyway, she has so much potential to inspire her generation. I was never this inspiring at 18....congrats and Happy Birthday Yara!
@davidkimbel29197 жыл бұрын
I know this isn’t going to be a popular opinion, but even though she seems to be very well spoken and well informed, I think she’s trying a bit too hard trying to be different from the teenager norm. Like she would be one of those people who hangs out with people older than her rather than hanging out with people her age group. No hate, just a speculation.
@maimunahshaheed91517 жыл бұрын
