It always blows me away when someone will buy a brand new car that they know is rare, and then drive it through road salt. If I bought that car new, it would sit in my garage all winter until the salt was gone

I went through so many of those car's that I'd get at a local auction..Never paid over 200 except for 2 Daytonas that was 450 out the door and I never got close to a thousand bucks when it came time to sell em..I bought everything that had engine noise and it sounded like rods knocking but it was usually the lifters and rocker arms that didn't cost much to fix em and nomore engine noise..I never understood why Shelby put his name on em but I reckon it helped em to sell better and I don't remember any of em having anything bigger than a 4cylinder engine with a turbo..I made a few bucks selling them but none of em really lasted very long..I haven't seen any of em for years...I had blue Daytona like in this video and a black one that I thought was bad ol rides but after thinking about it they wasn't all that lol..Somebody somewhere might want that car to maybe V8 it and make a drag car cause that's what I keep seeing plus I think Summit Racing can get a chassis to do all that with..I wouldn't mind having it to make a daily driver but V8 it somehow cause I've seen it done but the interior never got put back the way it's supposed to be. To find a complete one might be impossible but I'm speaking for my area..I seen a Dodge Omni and a 2 Plymouth Horizons but that's about it in my area..1 of em looks brand new with low mileage and I see it every now and then. It's blue and there's a white one and a silver one in my area but they're Omni and Horizons

My first car in 1991 at age 16 was a 1987 Shelby Charger. It ran flawlessly. I've had a bunch of these similar cars over the years and only one was ever any problems and it was fuel related. My parents had a V6 Daytona ES and again, they never had an issue. We currently own/drive 4, an 86 GLHT Omni, 89 intercooled 5 speed Lebaron convertible, an 89 Shelby Daytona (step sons) and a 90 Shadow ES 4 door turbo 5 speed. Sadly, this one is not getting saved and will be donating its parts to help save the other GLHS we got last year that is a project car.

Sad to see a GLHS in that condition. You'd have to have a lot of green and ambition to restore that one.

It's always sad seeing these cars in this condition. In 88 I bought an 87 slightly used 87 GLHS. I was 18 and had a hell of a time in that car. Still have the time slip from Englishtown. 14.87 at 93. Not bad for the day.

I agree. It's a shame it was left to rot for sure.😊

I wouldn't fix any of the body work, if it runs and shifts, throw some Chinese coilovers on it and drive the damned thing. That car is definitely savable if you're not picky. Personally I'd rather enjoy driving a ratty car than spend years looking at the same car mid-restoration.

Easier said than done on this one. The driver's side frame rail is non existent, like totally rotted away.

Back in the day when these cars were new we called these Dodge Omni's piles of shit and for a very good reason, it's a Dodge Omni ! The only thing Shelby about this car is the actual lettering and badging other than that it's a shit box Omni. Chrysler also put the Charger name on this platform and they did it without shame. All due to the fuel embargo. If the embargo never happened back in the 70's we would have seen some real badass big block muscle car V8 street sweepers but instead we got these tiny wannabe's.

Wannabes that Shelby built in his facility. Wannabes that he himself stated they were the funnest cars he ever built after the original Cobra. It's ok though, not everyone can enjoy what these true Shelby cars really are. Oh, almost forgot, the "wannabe" Shelbys are actually titled as a Shelby and not a Dodge.

Crap...I was hoping once again the front floors and crossmember were salvageable so I can use them for my 87 Shelby Charger...that is if someone doesn't want to take it on and bring it back to life.

This one was parked in 1991 by the original owner for unknown reasons. Sadly, that was the last time it was on a road. It sat in poor storage conditions and it just ruined the entire bottom end. The person who wanted it has changed their mind.
