Almost done. I had my lawn looking great this spring after overseed/reno last fall. I was out of town for nearly 3 weeks in late July early August. Despite watering and application of Hydratain prior to leaving My KBG in the front got hammered by the drought here in central Illinois. I watered like a madmen trying to bring it back and most recovered but i still had a lot of thin areas and areas some as large as 1 foot square devoid of grass. I started reseeding late August but i was disappointed with the results. So, i am in the midst of a nitrogen Blitz. i think i am getting some spread of the KBG and it is lushfully green. Soil temps still in the 50's so next weekend i'm hitting the lawn with another 0.5 pounds of ammonium sulfate nitrogen/1000. Who knows if we get a warm streak i might get in another application 2 weeks after that. i can tell on my mowing the growth is slowing. Our daytime temps remain in the 60's now for the next 10 days with lows in the 40s. Usually after that we start hitting` lows in the 30s and highs only the 50s in mid to late NOV. Right now ' just keeping the lawn clear of leaves.

I have cool season grass, but mimd you, I live in southern California and have green grass all year long! Gotta switch to Kentucky blue or tall fescue with fireball rye grass as an overseed during fall. Comes out beautifully!

Haven't seen a video so I had to check your weather 😂 rain, rain, rain! I sent you some pics thru email on my bermuda/rye overseed. I have a problem. I killed some weeds with certainty and celsius. The rye didnt come thru in those spots! My fix would be to plug, flip upside down. Seed more and in the spring the bermuda should repair itself. Whatcha think of my fix?

Kentucky bluegrass is very popular in New York for sure! But you can go Kentucky, rye or tall fescue! Personally I would do a Blackout Kentucky / Rye mix... you won't be disappointed! Salamat for the support pare! 😊🤙🏾

Quick question: I did a late fall overseed to fill in some bare spots. Is it safe to keep mowing as long as I cut higher than the new seedlings (around 2-3 inches)? I want to keep encouraging growth in the established grass, but I’m worried mowing might damage the new seedlings. I see a lot of advice saying to avoid mowing new grass for 4-6 weeks. Any thoughts?

Context: I saw that YardBrah was cutting over those new baby seedlings. I assume it would be fine to continue to mow since they're that young. I also wanted to know whether or not I can mulch the leaves and clippings at this point or do I really need to bag it everytime? I have a heavily compact clay soil type in my area so I feel like I could use the extra organic matter to improve soil quality

Oh for sure! You can mow once it hits 1" I usually reel mow on new grass with a lighter mower... but if you only have a rotary mower on and off is fine and fertilizer after 😊🤙🏾
