Toyota 2013 Yaris 1.4L spark plug change + air filter pretty basic operation but hopefully helpful for the less experienced at DIY servicing most smaller engined cars are similar to do. Sorry about my rather large arms in the way!

Hi thanks for this video as I changed spark plugs on my mrs car is a corsa I used 16mm sockets to take out the plugs. But for Yaris I didn’t know u required 14mm 🤦🏾♂️ I feel bit stupid to say the least.

Hello Zeheer..... It's one of those things I went to do the job before I filmed it and had the same problem! had to order the 14mm thin wall spark plug socket we all make mistakes! Cheers...Trevor....

Hello Mik Mik Thanks for you kind comments yes we changed them at 50,000 Miles.... this type of spark plug has a compressible sealing washer a light nip up with a small 3/8" drive ratchet is fine no force required....All the best....Trevor

I've got a 2014 Toyota Yaris. Does anyone know the torque spec for the spark plugs? Is it 15ft•lbf or 13ft lb?

Hello Jenny A light nip with a short ratchet is all that's required don't over do it....I've fitted hundreds of spark plugs never used a torque wrench...look up Scotty Kilmer changing spark plugs....on KZbin he doesn't use one either! all the best..... Trevor

Nice and clear. However you should NEVER apply anything to the threads of spark plugs. Modern plugs come pre treated with the silver/chrome plating you see and anti seize and copper grease will just lubricate the threads and increase the chance of over torqueing. Always use a torque wrench too if you have one.

Well friend I've fitted hundreds of spark plugs and glow plugs et all in my time to cars motor cycles, chainsaws etc etc.... and never had one stuck that I have fitted! if you notice I only use a 3/8" ratchet and don't crank em down..a slight nip is all you need. Cheers....Trevor

@@jetblack11td Nope i’m sure you haven’t. I merely said using it is not best practice, wasteful and not recommended. As you’re sensible and just nip them up it’s fine but for a first timer doing the job it could lead to problems. The size of the wrench is what is relevant when it comes to torque....3/8” is the drive but the length of the wrench will determine torque (force x distance) so the drive is almost irrelevant). But you’re clearly being sensible and well informed and do a top job 👍
