I always get nervous when I'm playing with colors people mention are their least favorites. Most frequently I get people who request no green, orange, or yellow. (Although there are some people who I know want those colors - orange colorways tend to sell quickly.!)

I think that if the oranges felt more vareigated I might not have felt nervous about adding the green. I'm both glad I didn't and sad I didn't.

I got a cool one. It looks like the 3rd from the right hand end. Such a beautiful blend of greens and blues. my friend Jennie (we're watching together) got a reddish orange with a lovely subtle tonal effect. Can't wait to see what you come up with tomorrow night!

Chag Sameach! Loved the results. I’m partial to the blue/purple (purple is my favorite color too) but the first pan was interesting as well. I particularly like the bottom layer of that pan. Looking forward to tomorrow night.

@ almost as much fun as knitting with a dyed sock blank. 😉 After watching your recent dyeing sock blank videos, I was inspired and dyed some of my own and then knitted socks with several. Great fun.

@@ChemKnitsTutorials I lost count of the number of sock blanks I dyed. 😯 I recently saw another video where the woman soaked the sock blanks in warn water with acid to open up the sock blank before dyeing so there wasn’t as much white/undyed yarn. I haven’t tried it, but am thinking of doing that. Have you ever tried that? What do you think?

This was SO cool! I'll leave a reminder here to look back at the footage and see whether you pressed down on the yarn before adding the blue. It might be helpful in future experiments in this vein.

Around 27:00. I did three layers of blue dye, the first two I workd the color through, and then the last I left the powder to go under the next layer. I'm pretty sure I did something similar for everything except the yellow in the end... but I don't remember :D

I think a pink/magenta/purple would be a fun first layer in the first pan. Orange to purple gradients are like a sunset 🌇

No, I don't think so. The main reason for this is that I wouldn't be able to spread the colors out very far, a lot of colors would start sticking where i place them. There are some pigemnts that will bind to yarn even without me adding acid.

I wonder how the skeins would look if you used half a skein per layer . So leave half the skein hanging out of the pan whilst you lay in your first colour ,, then lay in the undyed half on top for the second layer .. third layer being half a skein and so on . By half I mean one side of the zip tie not half way down from the zip tie..

I LOVE this!! And having an idea…. Could you do something as beautiful with Pantones ”colour of the year 2025” Mocca mousse? It’s a BEAUTIFUL pinkish brown - brownish pink, and I, who loves everything between pink and brown is so much looking forward to knit with these colours all through 2025 🙏🌟🙏✨🙏🌟🙏✨🙏🌟🙏✨🙏
