Wow, Cody, great tips. I am a left-handed crocheter and self-taught. Some of the issues you talked about were the same ones I had when I first started out. I have been crocheting for 15 years now and still prefer the 1 - or 2-row repeat patterns. 😂😂 happy hooking and great yarn colors.

I like the tweed color the best. Would love a sweater in that yarn, but I'd never be able to crochet something like that, unfortunately. A tip for Cody, though, please don't hold the yarn & the samples so close to the camera. It's hard on the eyes & makes the picture blurry & hard to see. Other than that, I wished I could crochet as well as he. Great job!

I DID IT. I FOUND YOUR STITCHES. Cody, im right there with you on perfection. My neighbor ripped my project out 3 ties bc the sides were crooked. I vried and said "im not doing this" she said "oh yes you will and your work is going to be perfect". Im 75 yrs old and if i detect a flaw i rip it out and start over...thank you to my blessed teacher mrs. Betts in heaven❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

My favorite was the first one, the purple, because it worked up so differently from what I initially thought it would from just looking at the skein of yarn. It was stunning! My next favorite was the berry - love those deep, rich colors.

I like to hear Glenda’s and Cody’s analysis on the texture and stitches. I think I’d do that heavy stitch to eat up my DK yarn stash. It would be heavy enough without being too weighty. That is one of my favorite yarns! I use it to make all my baby blankets unless they don't have the color I need. I wish they would make it in more colors. The swatches were beautiful! The violet stripes is my favorite of the ones you did today. It's wonderful that you taught Cody! God Bless!!!

Glad your surgery was successful, Glenda. I agree, I have stayed away from variegated yarns for fear of that drastic colour change. It makes your project look too busy in my opinion. It’s so hard, when you first learn to crochet, for perfectionists. It’s very easy to get frustrated with stitches when you don’t know exactly how the stitches should look. Tension is definitely a big thing that improves your crochet but is so hard to get consistent with. I recommend trying to relax your hands as much as possible. Also, stitch markers are my best friend to keep even sides of my work and to not add or drop stitches. I agree that @hookedbyrobin is great! She’s a great teacher. I also enjoy Toni @TLyarncrafts. She teaches Tunisian crochet in a very easy to understand and follow way.

Cody is a crochet wizard! All nice samples - but I agree - the one with the yellow in the middle is not my favorite. The yellow doesn’t really blend in to the other colors. Great video!

I liked the color that you and Cody didn't like. Hear me out though, because I know this is a long winded explination 😅 When I see knit and the colors all seem to blend nice or sometimes they are really sporatic yet somehow they create these interesting patterns? Thats what I thought when he showed the Double Crochet stitch and this yarn. Typically I agree with you and I do not like the sudden color changes in a varigated yarn. But in this yarn, the colors are a bit random. There is a color pattern, but it doesn't look like there are 5 stitches of color or 7 stitches of color. Its just here are some yellow, red, blue, black, and then in the following row its the same colors but the number of stitches are different. It makes it look like there is supposed to be a knit looking design but in crochet and I think its quite eye catching. I do agree with Cody the red looks like raw meat and that is not the best look 😂 but other than that, I like the color combinations.
