I'm a yarn under, yarn over kinda girl lol. It's the most natural technique for me to use. I also use the invisible increase and invisible decrease with my amigurumi, Thanks for showing the difference.

Me too!!! Since I started, this movement was the most natural for me. And it doesn’t hurt my wrists or anything. My pleasure to share 😍

While I'm definitely a yarn over crocheter, I really admire how the yarn under technique looks on the more complex, detailed amigurumi pieces. It's almost like sculpture!

Thank you so much for sharing darling! It creates a very different structure indeed! Both stitches have their beauties 😍

I prefer to do yarn under only for amigurumi, it doesn't hurt my hands. But what do you do when the pattern designer only uses YO? I have that dilemma with my selfish Christmas project I just started: afraid YU would affect the shape of the amigurumi, like demonstrated in the Pica Pau books. But it's such a hassle to keep tabs on the tension to prevent holes with YO... Love your videos, looking forward to your explanation of the 4 different stitches!

Hey my dear! Thanks so much for your participation here! I am a YU fan too. Did you talk to designer to know if it is necessary to use one stitch or the other? Sometimes it is written in the pattern, but most of the patterns that I tried with YU or YO didn't make much difference in the end. I will have my first Pica Pau book within a few weeks, and I cannot wait to start crocheting some characters! I always wanted to have it 😍 But I agree with you, we have to pay attention more carefully with the YO to avoid holes. When I make an entire amigurumi with YO, I usually keep a smaller crochet hook size.

The timing! I was gonna try the x method like 15 min ago but after making more than half of the head I realized I had forgotten about trying it 🤦♀️

Thanks so much for sharing my dear! It's good to keep in my mind the advantages of both right? I have some friends that only do YO and their amigurumis are simply perfect! I guess it's good for us to test, and see what fits our style better!

Interesting. I don't crochet amigurumi, but I've been crocheting for 50 years and never heard of yarn under or over...

Yeah, this is very popular topic among amigurumi crocheters!

It's yarn under/yarn over for me when I'm making amigurumi and yarn over/yarn over for almost everything else. I tried yarn under/yarn under, as well, but like you, I didn't see enough of a difference to be bothered with it.

Exactly!!! I started seeing some people talking about it on instagram, but when I tried the YU/YU I got tired and I felt like I was forcing it too much. In the end, the stitch was almost the same for double the trouble🤣 But if a person does it naturally, then go for it!
