It’s not a proto PT boat because torpedo boats were invented and used well before WW1. They played a significant role in the Russo-Japanese War.
@Constance_tinople5 ай бұрын
@@TheGreatAmphibianPT boats aren’t the same as a torpedo boat. PT boats were an innovation on the idea intended for Patrolling behind lines and generally sticking close to shore/ shallower water. It stands for patrol torpedo, whereas boats original torpedo boats were intended to be carried on warships and then unloaded to engage the enemy during a battle.
@mikeycraig897021 күн бұрын
No, not really. These are British boats so the Americanism 'pt boat' doesn't apply. These are proto MTB's. Motor Torpedo Boats. Infact, I wouldn't even use the word proto, as these quite literally ARE Motorised Torpedo Boats. American designations do not apply to the Royal Navy.

G'day Yarnhub, I gotta say the animation quality just keeps getting better as the up close facial shots and lim moving is masterful, although knowing the type destroyer used the turret traverse rates were a bit fast on the Pattern 1911 102 mm mounts and the Pom-Pom mounts fired at LMG rates except in the slowed down action. Yet an overall good animation of a somewhat forgotten raid in an often forgotten part of the russian civil war. Hmm in your preview earlier this week many guessed the Zeebrugge raid an I was certainly wondering would your team ever cover that glorious raid one day as well? (reading into it was always crazy with the brits using fireships to block the port entry and they stuck flamethrowers to the ships as well like HMS Vindictive 1897).

2 months prior to this attack, a SINGLE British "coastal motor boat" (CMB 4) penetrated Kronstadt harbour to attack the Russian fleet there. As it slid past the destroyer screen protecting the harbour, its engine broke down and it had to tie up alongside the harbour breakwater in darkness for 20 minutes while the engine was repaired. Once sorted it then sped into the harbour and at a 6000 ton Russian cruiser (the "Oleg") which it sank with a single torpedo before speeding out of the harbour under very heavy fire. The same boat was used during the attack detailed in this video to guide the other 3 coastal boats into the harbour and lead them back out again after the attack. The boat's commander was Capt Augustus Agar. He received the Victoria Cross for his actions, and later during WW2 he commanded , amongst others vessels, the RN heavy cruiser HMS Dorsetshire which my father served onboard.

@@adrianparker-e9f The whole post WW1 European involvement in the Russian civil war is something that seems to be COMPLETELY ignored. I can't fathom out why that is for sure... but it may possibly be due to interwar being such a complex period of European turmoil which was sandwiched between the two cataclysms of the world wars. I myself have only a little knowledge about it, but knew of this episode after my father told me the brief outline of the events, and a little reading filled in some of the gaps.

The information in this video is a common English lie. Bolshevik Russia granted Estonia full independence in 1918. But in 1919, the Russian counter-revolutionary army of General Yudenich, armed by the British and French, attacked red revolutionary Russia from Estonian territory, invaded Russia and began an offensive on Petrograd, the main city in northwestern Russia. And the Royal English Navy, without declaring war and without warning, meanly attacked revolutionary Bolshevik Russia and supported the offensive of the white counter-revolutionary army of General Yudenich on red revolutionary Petrograd (St. Petersburg) from the sea.

About 40 years ago I watched a Soviet feature film about the destroyer Gavriil, and there was an episode about the attack on the port of Kronstadt by English torpedo boats. In the film, the brave gunners of the destroyer destroyed the attacking boats with the first accurate shots, and there was not a single word about the sunken cruiser, nor about the fact that Gavriil itself was simply miraculously not hit, nor about the fact that two of the three hit boats collided with each other, and were also able to evacuate the crew and continue the fight. Also, in the film, these English boats did not look like wooden troughs at all.
